I think he meant the Video files which you answered from Panasonic Camcorder via firewire. Since you captured via firewire, did you select DV AVI as the file format or MPEG2? If you captured to MPEG 2, then MyDVD would probably show a 'grey' box with MPEG word instead of a preview.
But if you captured to DV AVI, you should see the entire movie being encoded. Since you say the preview is BLACK, then somethnig is wrong.
To find the video card:
Right click on MY COMPUTER
select MANAGE
In the left pane, select Device manager.
This shows your installed devices in the right pane.
Click on the + beside Display Adapters and tell us what is there.
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 is what appears under Display Adapters.
Saving from camcorder as DV AVI - not mpeg.
I tried moving everything to harddrive. as I'm only capturing 1-2 minutes of video until I get this resolved. Got the same results as when I had video and working files on external.
