After trying to get my Drag-To-Disc working for three days, on the verge
of giving up,I finally decided to delete everything on my computer related to
Roxio and re-install the program fresh. I was tired of seeing the messages
"Drag-to-Disc could not start because components necessary to run are missing.
Please re-install Drag-to-Disc." Also not working was
Disc Copier and Creator Classic. The following procedure worked for me:

1. Disable all startup programs via MSCONFIG and reboot.

2. Download and run the "Windows Install Clean Up" program, select Roxio.

3. Download and run the "Roxizap.exe" program from Roxio.

4. Manually delete all the leftover Roxio folders and files on your harddisk.

Start-Run-Search-files and folders, search for Roxio.

5. Delete all leftover references to Roxio in the Registry.
I used the freeware program "RegSeeker" to find all Roxio entries
which I then deleted. (there were a lot of entries).

6. Make sure everything related to Roxio is deleted from your harddisk and Registry.

7. I have the downloaded versions of Roxio EMC 7 and the downloaded upgrade version
of Roxio 7.5 and copied both versions to my hard drive for faster install.
If you have the upgraded version of 7.5 you will need to install EMC 7 first.
You will need both serial numbers to re-install.

8. Re-install Roxio EMC 7. Select Full Install. Reboot. Your problem will still remain -
Drag-to-Disc and the other programs will still not work.

9. Now, here's the kicker - go into the Control Panel, click on Add/Remove Programs,
find Roxio EMC 7 and do a Repair by clicking on the "Click here for support information."
and selecting Repair. Reboot. After re-booting an icon for Drag-to-Disc appeared in my
taskbar - it now worked but not only that, Disc Copier and Creator Classic also worked.

10. EMC 7 is now installed and working - now do the re-install for EMC 7.5 -
it reinstalled without any problems with everything working.

11. Enable all your startup programs via MSCONFIG - reboot.

Glad you got it working.

Now for the bad news, go into the search (top left of this page) and type in "d2d" or "packet writing " (without the quotes) and read all about the pitfalls of using D2D.

I will try again to ask a question regarding the ROXIO MedaiaCreator 7 Basic that camw with the Lacie Burner.

When yor cleaned the Registry of ROXIO Files did this include Shared Roxio Files? I think that I am confused with the meaning of Shared and common files.

Some other factors:

1. Nortons System Works does not work.

2. Other burning programs are on my drive (DVD Creator).

When an OEM (Orignal Equipment Mfgr) buys the rights to use Basic Version, they also have the freedom to modify it, and assume the responsibility to suppor ti. You should address your concerns to Lacie.

And we will await your frantic post when all the files on yr Drag2Disc disc disappear.

You can make it happen faster with CD-RW instead of CD-R.

Don't know how much help this will be to anyone. But here's how my "Component Missing" message showed up and how I got D2D to work again.

I uninstalled Kodak EashShare software one day last month and D2D stopped working, giving me the "Component Missing" message. I uninstalled and reinstalled Creator 7 several times to no avail. I went so far as to spend an entire afternoon deleting every occurance of "Roxio" I could find from my Registry. A few keys even had a security setting I had to change before I could delete them. Installed Roxio again with no success. I then purchased "Your Uninstaller! 2006". My thought was to reinstall Kodak EasyShare and then have Your Uninstaller! do its job of aggressively uninstalling. After that I reloaded Creator 7 and now have D2D working again.

If only Roxio would explain what files and Registry entries that D2D was looking for I believe a lot of frustration could be averted.

So if I understand that right, you hammered Kodak Easyshare with "Your Uninstaller!" and then reinstalled EMC7 and D2D worked okay?

Is there a particular version of Kodak Easyshare which breaks D2D?
