Hello all,

This is a problem that I've run into recently after installing EMC 8.

I have a DVD of a home event that I created using EMC 7. Today, I tried to burn an extra copy of that same DVD using Disc Copier in EMC 8. When I burn the DVD, however, I noticed that the Write Speed is stuck at 0.1x and estimated time remaining is over 10 hours. I've burned the same DVD under EMC 7 and it usually takes around 20-30 minutes tops.

This is my system configuration.

OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Roxio: EMC 8 with latest update
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
Memory: 1.5 GB RAM
DVD 1: Pioneer DVR-104 2x DVD write
DVD 2: Sony DRU-108A 16x DVD write

Ever since installing EMC 8 (uninstalled EMC 7) my hardward and software configuration has been the same.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thomas N, go to start right click my computer, click properties, system properties shows up on the general tab.
In this system properties box click on the hardware tab , then click on device manager. On the device manager window up top click the view, make sure there's a black dot on the first listing there for, Devices by type. Now down the list of devices look for DVD/CD-ROM drives, click on the + next to that listing. It expands to list your drives. A example mine Plextor DVDR PX-712A and Plextor DVDR PX-716A.
Please post what yours lists?

Why there is no DVR computer drive and Sony never made a DRU 108A!

Sorry about that, I meant Sony DRU-810A and Pioneer DVR-104.

In device manager is DMA enabled on IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Primary and secondary IDE channel?

Yes. DMA is enabled on all channels. I'm not having problems with the Pioneer drive since it's speed is only 2x in the first place. The problem is with the Sony drive which burnded 12-14x under EMC 7 but now is at 0.1x in EMC 8. I have also installed the PxEngine update from Sonic and upgraded to firmware 1.0e from the Sony manufacturer's website.

Go to Sony's website and get the drive check utility. If the drive is not functioning correctly it will tell you.
