Follow up to the above 29 reply topic ended June 30,2006 (locked) with no real conclusive fix to apparent Roxio glitch. Specifically Drag To Disk did run for me, but for no apparent reason it stopped running. I get the same error message: Quote," Drag to disk could not start because components necessary to run are missing, Please reinstall drag to disk." end Quote. I did that repeatedly to no avail. Finally after an all day struggle trying much of the suggestions on the above 2 Chat pages. And with no meaningful help from Roxio, I finally discovered the solution. Namely I went to Start > Programs > Roxio Easy Creator 8 > Data > Drag To Disk > Properties > Compatibility > And I unchecked "Run this program in compatibility mode for," as is all other Roxio components likewise unchecked. That solved the problem. I learned that any future problems that produces the above error message, or other problems. I will 1st go straight to the above simple fix 1st.

What I learned about Roxio was as follows:
1. "Ask Roxanne" is overly simplistic to the point of usually worthless... Roxanne is a worse idiot than me! Their 2. "Knowledge Base" had no mention of any of the above in Drag To Disk.
3."Live Chat" over several of their advertized business hours kept holding me up for circa 10 minutes in a zero (0) Queue, and then said "Try again Later"; So
4.I called the $35 phone line and complained that it's "convenient" that live chat leaves no other dialogue but the $35 dialogue. The person I got would only give me his common 1st name (no last initial or ID. #) and said there were more than one of his name there. Straight forward techs do not hide behind anonymity unless their company is problematic or they are jerks. I suspected both and hung up before I wasted $35.
5.The bottom line is that the above 29 reply topic is filled with bitter experiences about Roxio's Apathy. And essentially I echo those experiences. Nero has a much easier web site to navigate and much more responsive tech support. I am probably done with Roxio at my earliest convenience.

Let me suggest though, that you have just added a valuable piece of experience to these boards. I'd never heard of a problem with Drag-To-Disc being caused by it having somehow gotten into "compatibility mode" in Windows. Now that you've posted this as a solution, I've read it, and probably 15-20 other people have read it too. Those of us that regularly visit these boards will keep this solution in the back of their minds, and now be able to offer it to others. And that's how these boards work. It's unfortunate that you had to spend the time and aggravation you did to find the solution, but now it's publicly available.

So, thank-you for taking the time to come back and post your solution! It seems to often be the case that these boards are as helpful as trying to contact Roxio/Sonic directly, and you've added to it.

Hi Ron,
I have also spent hours on the same problem and when I tried your suggestion unfortunately the compatibility was already unchecked and I am still getting the dreaded error message.Any further thoughts.

I had the same problem and my compatibility was unchecked as well. I checked it, restarted and my Drag To Disk started working.
