Loaded retail CD. Loaded 8.05 patch/upgrade. Scoured & cleaned registry & disk, reinstalled, OK. See First Problem with v5 to v8 detailed solution.

Purchased Deluxe Suite Upgrade. Message on installation "Detected previous version of Creator 8 Suite Home... Must uninstall previous version". OK, nuke it. Custom install without Drag-to-Disk, Media Manager, Media Import.

The original problem referenced above has returned. Uninstalled Deluxe upgrade. Problem still there.
Am I the only lottery winner here?

I am leaving to purchase a new door (nope, not joking).
Wait 120. Out.

Removed Deluxe upgrade; no change.
Removed EMC 8; messgae during removal:"Could not access network location:." (My net was not connected, but WTH was it going for?)
Deleted files, cleaned beaucoup Sonic & Roxio entries remaining in registry.

Reinstall EMC 8 Suite retail. Again, "Could not access network location:." before files copied.

Run Home. Could not detect disks.
Get new pxengine. Resolved.

The disk detection and message were not seen, nor was another pxengine required, in any previous contact with EMC8.
One round Whiskey Papa, I will correct. Over.

Seems to be OK after wiping and reinstalling (begining with the retail CD). I have not used any part of the suite much.

During the last Deluxe upgrade, the mouse stopped responding at the Choose Language window. Keyboarded to the Previous Version window & selected NO & ABORT. It did not stop.
Exited via CANCEL at the next window. Logged out & shut down.

Deleted beaucoup MB of temp files left around. Installed Deluxe upgrade. Deleted MB of temp files left.
Opened Data Disc, selected Load -> Dr. Watson.
Wrote to same CD with Classic. Data Disc Load worked.

Ah, the adventure. wacko.gif (As comparison, previous installation and configuring Oracle 9i and MySQL on the same machine was without incident.) I guess I should use EMC more often so it won't throw another tantrum. wink.gif
