I did a full backup to DVDs a month ago and have scheduled incremental backups; but when I attempt to do the incremental backup, I get an error message: "error creating layout". I'd appreciate any help on resolving this.

I get the same error message. At first it seemed to resolve when I used a new CD-RW, but later it came back. I do not have a solution, I wonder if the program could be corrupted or if my
CD burner is bad. If yiu find an answer let me know.

It could be the drive - try using a lens cleaner and see what happens.

Most reports on that error tho seem to be (according to google) XML errors and occasionally javascript - but neither of those should apply in this case

The OP hasn't been back since February so either they gave up or the solution worked. Without any ersponse over a few months, it's impossible to say.

Your best bet is to start a new thread, state exactly what problem you're having and also post your system specs (similar to those in my signature). Jumping on an old dead thread isn't really a good idea

I too am experiencing the Error Creating Layout problem. I did some iterative testing and found that it is related to file size. There must be some maximum file size that EMC8-Backup can handle. I found that about 10 of my directories is about all it could handle so I just created multiple Backup Projects, each containing about 10 directories. If one got the ECL error, I just went back and dropped a couple of directories and it worked fine.
