Does Easy Media Creator 8 still create and read disks in the DirectCD format?

I'm getting ready to upgrade from Easy CD Creator 4.02d. Will I still be able to
read and update my old DirectCDs?

Can you even get DirectCD anymore? Is it included in Easy Media Creator 8?

Before you do any upgrading, copy, if you are still able to, anything on your CD's, to your hard drive. EMC 8.0 has packet writing software called Drag to Disc, which is the heir to Direct CD. I never use packet writing software because of its instability and unreliability for storage of important data.

Jthoma4: Drag to Disc, included in the full EMC8 suite, is backwards compatible with DirectCD and I have been able to read my previous CDs without problem. I was forced to upgrade because my previous version wasn't compatible with my new hardware . (A FREECOM DVD writer).

Grandpabruce: Could you elaborate on what is packet writing and why is it considered unreliable. Other "gurus" say the same but do not say why! I am confused because DVDs written with Creator Classic appear with a filesystem as UDF and I though that is the same as those pre-formatted with Drag-to-Disc.
