Installing New Roxio Nxt 3 Pro

Yes, unfortunately NXT3 did not resolve the "no disk in drive" problem. Informed Roxio Tech Support of this issue again. I continue to work around it by using my external DVD drive or burning to an ISO file. JO

Installing New Roxio Nxt 3 Pro

Problem Solved. Roxio Tech Support remoted in to my PC and went through the NXT2 uninstall process. It turns out that the uninstaller did not terminate the RoxioBurnLauncher.ese process and the process had to be ended manually through Task Manager. No explanation as to why the uninstaller failed to terminate the process, but after it was terminated manually, the uninstall continued normally and then I was able to install NXT3. Another piece of trivia to file away in the memory banks. Regards, JO

Installing New Roxio Nxt 3 Pro

Update First suggestion from Roxio Tech Support: Do a Repair on NXT2, a restart, then a Remove on NXT2. The Uninstaller halts when trying to remove Roxio Burn (as before). Second Suggestion from RTS: Use msconfig, click the Services tab and uncheck all Services that has Sonic Solutions and Corel Corporation listed under the Manufacturer column and hit OK. Restart the computer and retry uninstalling NXT 2. The uninstaller halts as above. Statement from RTS: Unlike older versions of Creator, we do not have an uninstaller for NXT 2. The uninstaller for older versions of Creator found in our knowledge base site is not applicable for NXT 2. Nevertheless, I did try Creator 2011 System Cleaner and the uninstall hung at the same point. I have requested a refund for NXT3 from Roxio/Corel. Salud, Jerry

    What Do I Need?

Although I think it is overpriced you could try the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD product. You can find information on the Roxio.com website. JO
  5. DennyB - If you have purchased the product recently be sure to register it at: https://www.roxio.com/registration/registerproduct.aspx?lang=eng Once registered you will receive a Tech Support Code that is good for 14 days and can be used for the problem you describe. If you have tried to install more than the max allowed (10), they can also reset your install counter. Hope that helps. Good luck. JO

Installing New Roxio Nxt 3 Pro

CD - Thanks for the advice...both versions are backed up on three hard drives via SugarSync! Brendon - Thanks for the explanation of the system cleaner program. I now feel better about using it, but I think I will wait to see what Tech Support has to say. Regards, JO

Installing New Roxio Nxt 3 Pro

cd I did not try the System Cleaner. Although it appears others have used it with success, I am leery of it. I don't understand how a program that is placed in the folder with the NXT2 Installation folders/files can remove the Installed files. I am working with a download version of both NXT2 and NXT3. I have no idea where NXT2 placed the Installation files. Yes, I know I can re-extract the Installation files to a new location and then run the cleaner, but what sense does that make? Maybe I'm just overly cautious, but I am not anxious to restore my system from an image again. Since I am within the 14 day warranty window, I am opening a ticket with Tech Support. We'll see what they come up with. Regards, JO

Installing New Roxio Nxt 3 Pro

I too am having great difficulty installing NXT3 (not the Pro version, however). First I performed a complete system image backup with Maxrium Reflect for insurance purposes. I am glad I did. I then attempted to uninstall NXT2 using Revo Uninstaller Pro and the process hangs when trying to uninstall Roxio Burn. What it did do is make NXT2 unusable. To get back to a known working state, I restored the image backup. I then attempted to install NXT3 and let it uninstall NXT2. The result was the same as Shawn B. See screenshot. Again the only way to get back to a working NXT2 was to do restore the image backup. This seems ridiculous that Roxio cannot provide a robust uninstaller. Any suggestions other than using the System Cleaner?

Win 7 - Mydvd Says Drive Is Empty

CD installed my old drive - HP DVD RW AD-7290HR SCSI CDROM - in his computer and discovered everything in NXT worked fine. Not surprised as I have maintained all along, there is something peculiar about my hardware/OS and NXT. Since the day I got computer and installed NXT, I have had the Drive empty issue. I get around it be burning to an image file or using my external USB DVD writer. I have forwarded the results of CD's testing to Roxio Tech Support. Let you know if I hear anything. JO

Win 7 - Mydvd Says Drive Is Empty

The bad news continues... I purchased and installed a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224DB SB01 in my HP 1360T Desktop. I replaced the existing HP AD-7290HR drive since there was only one pair of SATA cables. Unfortunately it did nothing to remedy the NXT MyDVD 'Drive Empty' problem. NXT will burn an image and data to a DVD in the drive, but that is nothing new. Also, the NXT Desktop Burning Tool does not recognize a disc in the drive, but it does recognize a disk in my external USB DVD Writer (also a TSST drive). So that is the state of affairs. Jim/CD - if you are interested in testing the drive I removed, let me know and we'll see if we can work something out. JO

Win 7 - Mydvd Says Drive Is Empty

Thanks for offer Jim, but first I thought I would replace drive with a new Samsung I can buy at Micro Center for $15. If that works, I may consider shipping old drive to you as long as I could get it back in case I have to replace it for warranty service. I'll let you know. JO

Win 7 - Mydvd Says Drive Is Empty

CD - I realize that this is not a widespread problem as NXT Burn functions properly on my HP laptop. However, after spending the last two hours on a chat session with Roxio support on a related Burning issue, they admitted that this is a known problem with some DVD drives and they are working on it. The recommended work around is to burn to an ISO file or use an external USB DVD Drive. They also recommend most Sony and Samsung replacement internal drives. Might be worth considering if the computer is out of warranty. Bottom line - it is a real problem, there are workarounds including replacing the drive with one that is NXT compatible. Regards, JO

Nxt2 Mydvd Crashes Trying To Burn

I did run Revo in Moderate Mode, but the problem was that the NXT uninstaller crashed before complete leading to an unstable system. Now for the good news...I am happy to say that Roxio Support was able to resolve this issue after a two hour remote login session. They did a very good job. The resolution was surprising. It turns out that my WD External Hard Drive has a Security feature to lock/unlock the drive. This feature creates a Virtual CD Drive that was causing a conflict with NXT. We disabled the virtual drive and the Burn Project window in MyDVD appeared when the Burn button was clicked. I have now disabled the WD Security feature and can burn a project to an ISO file. Still cannot burn to the internal DVD drive due to Drive is Empty error. Roxio Tech explained this is a known bug they are working on. The recommended work around is to burn to an ISO file or use an external USB DVD Drive. I will post this information on the Forum topic dealing with Empty Drive issue. If you have more questions, please reply. JO
