  1. Why Is This Program So Slow?

The burning process. The thing is that Toast 10 never slows down when it is in the background - only the newer programs. I will give the AppNap tip a try (why Apple would put something so dumb into the OS is beyond me - Mac users are usually doing several things at once, so we need all the applications to be running full speed).
  2. Why Is This Program So Slow?

I keep reverting back to Toast 10, because all of the newer ones are SLOW. I do not understand why they can not burn discs faster. Toast 10 runs circles around 11 through 15 ( I won't upgrade again if they can't get this fixed). The worst thing is that when I am running Toast 11 or higher in the background behind other program windows, it slows to an absolute crawl. Why is this?? My machine is no slouch - 8 core Mac Pro, with 24 GB of RAM. If Toast 10 can run full speed behind other windows, why can't the newer ones?? If anyone can help me get this figured out, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. Sense Key = Medium Error When Burning Blu-Ray...

I got some Verbatim BD-Rs and it burned fine. So, Optical Quantum will be getting an email from me about the poor quality of their discs. Thanks for the input.
  4. Sense Key = Medium Error When Burning Blu-Ray...

The same drive was used with the same media to burn a disc in the past. I also tried installing a new Blu-ray burner that I had and it does the same thing. The media is Optical Quantum BD-R.
  5. I have gotten this same error on three different versions of Toast - 10, 11, and 14. I have successfully burned a blu-ray in the past using the same drive, so I need to find out what is causing this issue. The exact error is: The drive reported an error: Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR Sense Code = 0x57 UNABLE TO RECOVER TABLE-OF-CONTENTS When I click OK on the error popup, it then tells me: Couldn't determine the free space on the disc. If anyone has any ideas on this one, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  6. Toast 14 Pauses When In Background...

I will give that a try. However, that is one feature that should be completely disabled by default on a desktop installation.
  7. Toast 14 Pauses When In Background...

Why on earth does this version of Toast basically pause when it is behind other program windows?? All the previous versions never did this. It is an incredibly stupid thing for it to be doing. I need it to burn in the background while I am doing other things. If anyone knows how to make it stop doing this (I have checked through all the preferences and can find nothing even remotely related to this problem), your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  8. Dual Layer Playback Problems.....

I have burned multiple dual layer videos from video-ts files & they complete the verification successfully. However, when I play them back on any DVD player, they take a long time to load & always seem to hang up when they make the transition to the second layer. Now I will admit that I am using Fry's Electronics in house brand of dual layer media (all other brands are way too expensive - I don't know why the companies are ripping people off so bad on dual layer media), but if it verifies successfully, then shouldn't it play correctly too? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  9. 9.0.2 Update Download Link Not Working......

OK. That pointed me in the right direction to get it solved. If anyone is using NetBarrierX3, there is a tab under the Privacy area called Surf. Uncheck the box under Surf that says Last website visited. The download worked after doing that. Thanks for that link.
  10. 9.0.2 Update Download Link Not Working......

I disabled everything in NetBarrier. I also tried Safari, Netscape 9, & IE 5.23 - all of the browsers acted exactly the same. This has got me baffled, as all past downloads went perfectly.
  11. 9.0.2 Update Download Link Not Working......

My firewall was disabled & it made no difference. It is strange, because I have downloaded in the past with the firewall active & there were no issues. However, I did recently get high speed internet & am running through a Belkin firewall router. Is there something that needs to be changed in it??
  12. 9.0.2 Update Download Link Not Working......

I tried multiple times & with multiple browsers to download the 9.0.2 update - the website just links me to the Ask RoxAnn page. However, when I tried to download it on a PC, it worked fine. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?? I have always been able to successfully download Toast updates & nothing has changed on my machine (my current G5 Mac has been used to download updates for Toast 7 & 8). I am running OS 10.4.11 & I use the NetBarrier firewall (this is currently turned off to see if it would allow the download, but it did not work). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  13. Can't copy discs made with iDVD....

Well, there is no need to do anything different. The problem was bad RAM. I had recently added another 2 GB of RAM & one of the DIMMs had a bad module on it. I just sent it back today for warranty replacement & they are going to thoroughly check the replacement RAM to be sure that it passes the Apple Hardware Test. I copied two of my iDVD produced discs (one of them at 8x) & no problems at all. Just thought everyone might like to know.
  14. Video_TS verification error.....

Just a follow up to let everyone know what the problem was. It had nothing to do with the blank media, Toast, or my drives - it was bad RAM. I had recently added an extra 2 GB & one of the DIMMs had a bad module on it. I just sent it back for warranty replacement today & they are going to thoroughly check the replacement RAM to be sure it passes the Apple hardware Test. Not one single verification error or copying error since removing the bad RAM.
  15. Can't copy discs made with iDVD....

I will try using Disc Image instead. I always set the burner to the lower speeds when copying (I wish it would give me the option for 1x, but 2x is the slowest it will go). Thanks for your input.
