  1. Creator NXT2 - PC Freezes During File Output

First of all thank you to Brendon & Cdanteek for their help with my NXT2 problem. I followed Cdanteek’s advice carefully & to begin with all looked good, but then the “freeze” problem reappeared. %temp% identified 1159 files & folders. I was able to delete all but 7. Using a Production containing lots of short videos my target was to successfully produce an output file five times. The results were: · Attempt 1 – succeeded · Attempt 2 – succeeded · Attempt 3 – succeeded (by now I was getting excited!) · Attempt 4 – failed, froze 68% of way through producing the output file At this stage I deleted the Temporary files that had built up since I started this activity · Attempt 5 – failed, froze 88% through producing the output file While writing these comments my PC froze again – nothing to do with Roxio. I then started work on Brendon’s advice & the PC froze in the middle of a Defrag. I am sure this confirms Brendon’s view that my PC is the problem, not Roxio. I think I would be more comfortable if an “expert” took over so I plan to take my PC to a repair shop in town. I have used him in the past & trust him. But I will not be going to Windows 10 unnecessarily. Once again thank you for your help.
  2. Background My son regularly sends us videos of his baby via WhatsApp. The videos have been taken on Samsung phones & are in MPEG4 format. They are usually 1-2 minutes long. Every few months I edit the videos, string a number together & create a Roxio movie of 25-40 videos lasting 45-60mns. I have a Dell PC operating Windows 7. All Windows upgrades have been applied. I have used Roxio regularly for several years – first CREATOR 10 Suite and now CREATOR NXT2. I create a Production in VIDEOWAVE & then Output to a file using the video file quality ARCHOS MPEG4 (AVI) Best Quality. Up until about 4 weeks ago I had not experienced any problems & I have a set of excellent videos. Problem Now, for no apparent reason, while in the Rendering process my PC freezes – totally. The only way to get the PC going again is to turn the power off / on at the mains. This happens most of the times I am attempting to produce an output file. This might be the first video in the production, the last or anywhere in between. There is no pattern. I have tried options such as Hardware & Software rendering, with or without Transitions, and other file output formats. Sometimes the output file is created but more often than not the PC freezes. I applied the Repair option & then uninstalled / reinstalled Roxio – these had no impact on the freezing. Options A friend has ROXIO CREATER NXT PRO4 on his PC (running Windows 10). I created the same production as on my PC & output movie files seven times in a row without any problems. I tried different options (rendering, transitions & file format) and everything worked well. Purely as a test, I loaded NXT PRO4 on my PC and tried again (after removing NXT2). After several tests I found that the PC was freezing at least half of the time. What Next? I cannot explain why VIDEOWAVE should stop working like this and am hoping that the Roxio experts will be able to offer suggestions to help me. Could it be that the problem is caused by my PC? Is a Windows file or buffer (that I know nothing about) be full? My inclination is to move to Windows 10 & then upgrade Roxio. But this an expensive route with no guarantee that the problem will be fixed. Thank you (& apologies for using wrong forum – NXT2 forum not available for new queries)
  3. Video From Mydvd Is Corrupt

Have spent a day faffing around with my DVD problem & now have got a bit closer to what has gone wrong. Note I do not know why or how to fix it! Some of these comments probably contradict in places what I wrote above. I loaded about 100 photos to create a Slideshow. I clicked Pan & Zoom, set the Duration to 7 seconds, & set up Dissolve transition. The preview looked great so I then selected Edit in VideoWave. In VideoWave I added a MOV file & music & the preview was correct - as I wanted it. I copied the project to MyDvd & previewed what I was going to burn. Again the result was what I expected. I selected Burn & studied the screen as the DVD was being written. However the screen showed that I was losing pictures. The screen went blank several times but the music continued to play. This was confirmed when the burn was complete & I loaded my DVD. The blanks were in the final version.. I tried again, but this time I loaded a file that I had reformatted from MOV to MPEG-4. The DVD I produced was just as I wanted it - except the quality of the movie was not as good as the quality of the MOV file. In a nutshell - My MOV file was processed in MyDvd & gives a high quality result, but Is there a problem in MyDvd with MOV files which has caused the errors to occur? Any ideas please let me know. Thanks
  4. I have just installed my new Creator NX2 to replace EMC10. I loaded about 100 photos to create a Slideshow. I clicked Pan & Zoom, set the Duration to 7 seconds, & set up Dissolve transition. The preview looked great so I then selected Edit in VideoWave. In VideoWave I added a movie (in MOV format & lasting about 30 minutes) and then added some music to support the photos. The preview in VideoWave looked even better so I transferred the production to MyDVD. I watched as the DVD was being produced & everything seemed to be going well. When I played back the completed DVD I started to get problems. The first few photos & the movie were fine but then a picture appeared with a large black square in the middle - covering about half of the area of the screen. Then the screen went totally blank & the music stopped. A few seconds later normal service was resumed, but only for a short while because the problem came back, and again. I have done some checks as best I can. A short movie with about 60 photos with music (and transition etc) worked fine. But when I added a short (AVI) movie in the middle of the photos the dreaded black square reappeared. I have a DVD played connected to my television & there was no difference to when the DVDs were played on my PC (Dell XPS running Windows Vista). Can anyone help please?
  5. Sound With Mov Files

Thank you for your prompt reply. I appreciate the support. I have now tried the Arcsoft & MPG2 options but do not seem to be making a lot of progress. I think the best bet for me is to buy the latest version of Creator as it supports MOV.. I have had EMC10 for several years now & have certainly had my money's worth.
  6. I have some important movie files (of my son's wedding) that I took with a Kodak Zi8 camera. On my PC the quality of the MOV files is great in QuickTime Player. In VideoWave (EMC10) the picture quality is also great, but I get no sound. Using Any Video Converter I created MP4 files. The sound worked but then went out of sync, but as the quality was not great I decided to try something else. Avi files have corrected the sound problem but the quality is still not fantastic, & when I tried WMV I got the same results. What I would like to do is have sound on MOV files in VideoWave. It is no surprise about the picture quality as the MOV file is 2gb & the MP4, AVI & WMV files are all around 280mb. Can anyone suggest how I get the sound for MOV files, or is there a better conversion than the ones I have tried. Thanks for your help.
  7. At last I have a super 45 minute movie of a trip to India, but I now want to add my own music. One of my cable TV stations outputs Indian music so I can easily create a DVD (not a CD) holding the music I want as a movie. Can Roxio rip the DVD so that the audio is converted to mp3? If not is there any other trustworthy software out there? If all else fails I trot off to the library & hire some CDs. Cheers
  8. Adding Music To Production

    Cheers. It works well.
  9. I am creating a production that consists of still photos followed by several movies then more stills followed by more movies etc. In all I am creating 5 sections of each. I can create the movie quite easily (now) but am having trouble with the background music I want for each of the stills sections. For the movies I want to retain the existing background sounds. When I add the music to the stills it continues over the following movies. I can overcome this by creating multiple productions & then extracting as mp4 files - I then bring them together in a single production. However when I do this for some reason the quality of the music suffers. Am I on the right track, or is there a more straightforward way to do what I want?
  10. Is there anything in EMC 10 to improve the quality of background sound in videos, e.g. reducing the irritation of hissing & wind sound? Cheers
  11. Mod Conversion

I have a batch of files capured in MOD format that I want to process in VideoWave. As Roxio does not seem to like this format can anyone suggest a trustworthy source of a converter that can create a format that VideoWave will accept. Cheers Forget the last item. I found on another site that MOD files are really mpg files, so if you change the name then VideoWave should accept them. It does - what a good result.
  12. Deleting Bits Of Videos

Many thanks to all who helped me. I can now delete clips for fun. Cheers
  13. Deleting Bits Of Videos

Many thanks - I am now getting somewhere, mainly because of the the Camtasia movie. To answer one of the questions I have a full version of EMC 10. I have now stripped out a piece of unwanted video & created a production. In VideoWave I have started joining other files to the production, but only if they are movie files (*.avi, *.mov etc). What I have not been able to do is add another production. I get the message "One or more of the files you are trying to add cannot be edited & have not been added". Have I missed something else? Cheers
  14. Deleting Bits Of Videos

This is what I am trying to do: For those reading this post who would like to apply the tips above using Easy Media Creator 10 (EMC10), please note that the markers in Videowave no longer automatically generate chapter markers in MyDVD, as indicated in the last paragraph above for EMC9. Instead, you have to right click the title, select Edit Movie and go to Timeline view. To make the marker a chapter point, right click it and select Convert to Chapter marker. Do this for all the markers that you would like to be chapter points It is the right clicking that is causing the problem. I am in Production Editor, in Timeline view but I can generate the option to Edit Movie. It says - click title. I must be choosing the wrong title, but I cannot make the option appear. Many thanks for your patience.
  15. Deleting Bits Of Videos

I am still trying. I went into VideoWave Added the movie I wanted to Edit The notes say to tight click the title, but I cannot get Edit Movie option. Cheers
