  1. Toast Audio Assistant

This feature sounds like it might be a reincarnation of Spin Doctor. Is it? Does it actually work for converting LPs to digital and sending to iTunes?
  2. Spin Doctor X = Trash

Not directed at Toast per-say, just Spin Doctor X. Toast 10 works just fine for me and I assume Toast 11 will too. Spin Doctor has always had the potential to be a really great app for transcribing LPs and such but it has never lived up to the hype. The really galling thing is that Roxio just doesn't seem to give a #$^@.
  3. Spin Doctor X = Trash

Just my opinion, of course, but Spin Doctor X is the biggest piece of trash ever foisted on Toast users. I recently bought Toast Titanium 11 as part of a bundle, having used Toast since at least version 6 and having dutifully upgraded through version 10. I didn't upgrade when Toast 11 came out because I was relatively satisfied with the product. Then came the bundle offer and I thought "why not." Boy am I glad I didn't delete Toast 10. At least Spin Doctor 6.1.2 works pretty well. Spin Doctor X, on the other hand, failed to record a complete analog LP, stopping randomly in the middle of a track. Manually defining tracks is impossible. Spin Doctor X, this steaming pile of manure, simply doesn't work AND Roxio has not fixed anything since the day it was released A FULL YEAR AGO! One strike and you're out for me. Future upgrades of Toast are history for this user. This debacle called Toast 11 makes me think Toast is on its way out. How dare Roxio ship a non functioning application and then refuse to fix it. The mind boggles.
  4. Rebate Toast 10

All you need to obtain your rebate is in the box. There is no online form. I know this for a fact because I have already received my rebate.
  5. Toast 10.0.3 Update Posted

Downloaded and installed without issue this morning. Toast and CD Spin Doctor appear to be working just fine. The CDSD audio capture .kext installed without complaint. Toast It and Mount It work. I do not have a Tivo so I can't speak to that. I did not repair permissions. Everything went smoothly without a hitch.
  6. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

Spare us the spam and theatrics will you. Now go away and never return, troll.
  7. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

Ok, I have been using the new CDSD update for a week now and can report it works as advertised on my Intel iMac running OS X 10.5.6. I recorded a vinyl album, auto-defined tracks, filtered it, sent it to iTunes (and on to the AppleTV) without issues. The waveforms are generated properly. The audio capture option shows up in my input menu. It works.
  8. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

Downloaded and installed. All seems to be well. I tried a bunch files previously recorded w/CDSD. All played and waveform was generated. Thanks for the update Roxio. This will clear the way for my eventual upgrade to Toast 10.
  9. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

Funny, I'm not experiencing any of the problems with OS 10.5.6 you describe. I wonder why that is? Well it ain't luck, I can tell you that. Also funny how the Toast 10 version of CD Spin Doctor works with OS X 10.5.6. If it was a bug in 10.5.6 Toast 10 wouldn't work either would it. Roxio fixed the problem. Now we just have to wait until the fix for Toast 9 comes out.
  10. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

Thank you very much. That's all we needed to hear. Toast and it's companion applications make up a very good suite.
  11. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

So, Digital Guru, any speculation as to when we might see an update for Toast 9 users? All we want is an OS X10.5.6 compatible CD Spin Doctor.
  12. Spin Doctor Problems With Leopard 10.5.6

Toast 10 has been released. If anybody gets it please tell us if CD Spin Doctor now works with OS X 10.5.6. No use in considering it until everything works with the current version of OS X.
  13. Toast 10?

So, will there be a WORKING copy of CD Spin Doctor included with toast 10? You know, a version that actually works with OS X 10.5.6?
  14. spin doctor 4.x

"any insight to the following: - the help for spin doctor goes to general support page and I can't find any documentation how to use the program" Same here. Selecting CD Spin Doctor Help goes to the page you mention. No documentation. No such file or folder exists in the location you specified. I purchased the downloadable version of Toast 8, not the physical CD version. I wonder...
  15. CD Spin Doctor 4.0t playthrough distortion?

Thanks for the advice. Both CD Spin Doctor and Audio MIDI Setup are set exactly the same, namely 44100.0 hz, 16-bit, 2-channel, for both input and output. It may also be worth noting that I'm using Harmon-Kardon USB Soundsticks for monitoring the recording. The distortion persists but, as I mentioned in the original post, if I use the small app LineIn (by Rogue Amoeba) to playthrough the sound is fine. I'm assuming this app is doing basically the same thing as CDSD which is just passing the input through to the output so one can hear what is being recorded. Is it possible there is some glitch or bug in OS X's Core Audio framework. CDSD crashes now and then and the tread that crashes is always in Core Audio? Or possibly in the way CDSD accomplishes the playthrough is different? Kinda grasping at straws here. It's also worth noting that this problem started in CDSD 3.x apparently after some system update. Now the problem continues with CDSD 4.x. The playthrough option USED TO WORK. Unfortunately I can't be sure of when the problem started or what system change caused it. I have seen other posts regarding the distortion problem but it does not appear to be wide spread. Otherwise I think someone would have posted a "me too" reply by now. From the musical "The King and I" comes Yul Brynner's famous response of "Is a puzzlement!"
