  1. Hi everybody, I am (still) using MyDVD 10 with satisfaction, even if certainly not so often for videos (I mainly make "diashows" of my photos). I have a very simple question: when I create a "Cinemagic" movie, the original sound track of the involved videos, with voices and all, seems lost forever... and it is substituted with the audio background that I chose. But maybe I do not know how to turn it on. What I would like, is to be able to mix a musical background, with an appropriate volume, with the original audio track. Is that possible? Best regars & thanks in advance Claudio
  2. the Customer Support has answered my question, I will post here the complete workaround, if someone else is interested: I have to select "New Project" -> "DVD without menu" and the media selector will appear. I choose randomly one photo, it's just to create the new project. This will generate a 4:3 aspect ratio video. Now I will have to go under "Add Video" menu, and select, there it is possible, 16:9 Video. Now I can begin to select the real photos that I want... At the end, I will have to delete the dummy 4:3 video that just served as "starter" for the DVD without menu. Hope this helps someone else with my problem Best regards Claudio
  3. Malatekid, thanks for your answer. I have MyDVD Premiere 10. If I select "New Project" -> "DVD without menu" there is of course a File Settings menu, but the option for 4:3 or 16:9 is grayed out. By the way the customer support answered me the same... I would like to be able to post here an image of my screen, but it is not possible! Thanks a lot anyway Regards Claudio
  4. I have a very similar problem using MyDVD 10 Premiere. The project, and the iso file that I always produce when burning, are ok, but the DVD, when played on the DVD player, has a short "black hole" corresponding to one photograph (I use the software to do the same as you: long photos presentations with audio track). The audio goes on, and there is no stutter. I thought I was doing something wrong, or thought to an hardware problem (bad DVD?) but your post tells me that it is not!
  5. Hi everybody, please excuse my stubbornness, but this is a new formulation of an already asked question that nobody is answering. I also asked the same question to the customer support. Consider the following scenario: I have a beautiful photo of a ... circle :-) I use it in a normal DVD project, the standard project that MyDVD Premiere creates, with menus and all, and reproduce the resulting DVD in a player connected to a 16:9 TV. (with correct Display settings in the player, of course). The circle is ... well ... a circle! :-) Now I use the same photo in a different project, in MyDVD Premiere, namely a "DVD without menus" project. This kind of project is useful to create DVDs that just play a video forever, without any need for interaction. Well, the circle will now be ... an ellipse! :-) horizontal axis slightly longer (about 4:3) than the vertical axis. This is of course an aspect ratio problem, but I do not find any option that permits me to alter this! I have tried to set different display options concerning screen format both on TV and on the DVD player (e.g. 4:3 letter box, Wide, 4:3 pan, Zoomed), but no option produces the result that I would like to have: namely a DVD video without menus and 16:9 aspect ratio. Best regards & thanks in advance for your help Claudio

    where can I get support

fairpilot, I think you should try here first, as you did, and then if there is no answer, you should contact ROXIO customer support. I did the same for an unanswered question of mine. Customer support can be found easily under roxio.com, and you can use the same logonid that you are using for this forum. After all this is a forum of users, there can be specific questions that nobody can answer except support people from ROXIO. Hope this helps! Regards and good luck Claudio

    DVD without menu 16:9 ?

lot of views but no answer... please ...
  8. Hi everybody, I have just discovered the type of project "Video DVD without menu". It is pefect for some application where I just want the DVD to start playing (and play forever) when it is inserted in the player. The only problem is the following: I would like to be able to choose the 16:9 aspect ratio for the project, but the option is greyed out in the "Project Settings" option under "File". If I select the option in before going to "File" -> "New Project" -> DVD w/o Menu, I can choose it, but it will be overridden. What am I doing wrong? the DVD video works fine, but when I show that on the 16:9 TV screen the photos are, of course, slightly deformed (horizontally stretched). Moreover, I have a "theoretical question": is the aspect ratio "coded" in a DVD? meaning: does a DVD "know" if it is 4:3 or 16:9 ? I thought yes, but I begin to doubt! Best regards & thanks in advance for your help! Have a nice day Claudio
  9. Walt, thanks a lot! Regards Claudio
  10. Hi everybody, I have MyDVD10 Premiere, and I am happy enough with the choice. Yesterday, while making a backup of the whole C:\User directory, I noticed that the process was taking a lot of time saving big wav files. After the ending of the backup, I made a few researches, and I have discovered a lot of .wav files, with invisible attribute, corresponding to all the mp3 soundtracks that I have used (or tested and then rejected) in MyDVD. They are located in: C:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Roaming\Roxio\Video\UI10\Proxy To give you an idea, the whole VideoUI10 directory is about 2 GB, and some of the files are 80 MB (the corresponds to songs of about 3-5 minutes length). I understand that they certainly have been created during the process of creating a "burnable" image of the project. My question is: are this data files necessary, and are they going to grow forever, inflating my "C:\Users" directory? Would it be a good idea to delete at least the biggest of them? Is there some option "Delete wav files after using" in Roxio? Any suggestion is appreciated! Best regards from Italy Claudio
  11. firenhancer and everybody, I wish to thank you and communicate that I finally succeeded in playing the DVD burned with Roxio MyDVD Premiere also on the reluctant Samsung player. In the process of trial and error, I have developed a few doubts, on which I would like to hear your opinion. It seems to me that the solution came from using DVD+R. I think so because tried the same project on DVD+R and DVD-R of TDK and Verbatim, and only the DVD+R works. There is a glitch in my theory ... namely that before buying Roxio MyDVD Premiere I burned two DVD-R using "Windows DVD Maker"... and they work! Admittedly, Windows DVD Maker does not create a real menu structure, that is my reason for upgrading to Roxio. The manual of the Samsung DVD-player says that DVD+R and DVD-R are both supported but "some DVD-R could not be played because of format and condition of burning" ... this is suspect! Anyway, here are my latest questions: 1) could it be that the real difference is the software that physically makes the burning? Roxio, DVDMaker, Power2Go...? In that case, would it be a good idea to create an iso copy of the project, and burn it with, for example, Power2Go that is preinstalled on my PC? Or is the quality of the burn only dependent on the hardware and the burning speed (I use 4X) 2) Could it be the "HQ" (High Quality) option that I selected? Windows DVD Maker has no such option, and I have no idea which "quality" it chooses for the DVD it creates. 3) Could the issue come from the menu structure? In fact, the problem in playing the faulty DVD is the following: the menu is shown with difficulty, and when I succeed in selecting one item, the presentation starts, but it is not possible to go back to menu level... the DVD player is somehow frozen in the presentation. Anyway, I have a solution, and this is the important thing. If you have time, your opinion on the above will be highly appreciated. Best regards from Italy Claudio
  12. Firenhancer, first of all thanks for your answer. Before I go out and buy a new DVD a final question: having the possibility to choose, should I buy DVD+R or DVD-R ? Cheers Claudio
  13. Hi everybody! This is my first post in the forum. I am an (happy) recent new customer of Roxio, I bought by download and installed successfully MyDVD 10 Premiere (btw, I chose it because it is the winner of a quality/price test in the Computer Bild magazine). I created my first DVD, a presentation of old scanned photos from an album of my parents, in order to present them with this as a gift :-) The DVD is a DVD-R of mean quality (not a Verbatim or so). Actually I bought it at the COOP store, it is labeled COOP. I created it in 16:9, HQ, and masterized it with the minimum speed of 4X. I made in on a HP Pavillon computer with Vista Home Premium, a relatively recent PC. It works perfectly on: 1) the PC 2) my Philips home theatre 3) another Philips mini-home theater (well, there the menu will not show, the DVD starts from the first presentation) 4) an old combo DVD+VHS player (don't remember the producer) BUT :-( it does not work well on the brand new Samsung DVD Player that is my target! namely that of my parents! "not work well" means that the menu appears but it is difficult to change the chapter, and the music and the photos are shown with interruptions. And in one case during the projection the DVD player just stopped to obey to the remote control and to the front panel, and I had to interrupt power to reset it. Although I read the previous post "problem, problem...", I would like to hear some good hints from the experst between you :-) I am pretty desperate. Another small thing: I activated the zoom and pan option on the photos, in order to dynamize the presentation: but to my surprise this options "cuts" away a small slice around the photos, a small but important slice for me, because I had superimposed the date and place of the photo, in the lower right border. Almost all of them, although being visible in the original photo, are not visible in the video, due to this clipping. Some Hints? anyway, the program is good, and relatively complete. I am happy with it and wish to say thankyou because it really revives old photos and brings them to new life! Best regards from Italy Claudio
