Sammy,
If you mean importing off a DVD with a Plextor 716A Drive, in EMC 8.
Yes I just imported a 4gig file to mpeg in 10 min. I played it in wmp and Power DVD 7 with no problems with audio or video.
I don't think your drive is the problem. Plextor has tests to check the drive, if you want to check it.

Sorry, I don't own that device. I have had excellent support from Plextor. Have you tried that? They could tell you if the codec is a problem, and why it is not capturing correct.

I have the same capture device Plextor PX-M402U and capture only works in EC 9.0, the WinDVD can see and hear the video but won't capture. It turns to black screen when I press record and Windows Movie Player can't detect the capture device at all and gives detection errors to prove it.
I've tried removing Roxio, but Movie Maker and WinDVD never improve. The captures in EC 9.0 are just fine. Remember to set the device for composite video if you're using the yellow cable. Besides if you're trying to capture VCR tape, the maximum resolution is 240 lines, so don't waste your time using the Super video connection, cause anything better than the yellow cable won't even be noticed.
