I ran the msconfig a tried disabling just about everything and heres what I found. Disabling the DMXlauncher, Drgtodsk, roxwatchtray9 and also renaming the 3 roxio cinemaster DLL's (CinemasterAudio.dlx, CinemasterVCDNav.dlx, CinemasterVideo.dlx) so they don't load got fix the constant Media Center Receiver service error. I was able to capture in Roxio media cature program and moviemaker. But My TV in MCE still disabled, I can not watch MCE My TV or record. It looks like its the cinemaster codec is not compatable with MCE. Is the a way to uninstall the cinemaster codec. I also saw on Microsofts knowledge base the DivX is also not compatible in MCE. Do you have instructions how to uninstall DivX.
Thanks

Yes but as soon as it start I get the constant error. It looks like it a codec compatability with cinemaster.
The error is between ehrecvr.exe and cinemasterAudio.dll

Did you ever get the MPEG 2 activation yet? Maybe that's your problem. Run Videowave. Close it. Do that several times until you get the MPEG activation notice. YOu must be connected to the net for that. Once activated, see if that fixed the problem.

For my other problem I found renaming the cinemasterAudio.dll stops the constant mce receiver error that conflicts with ehrecvr.exe. I still can't watch TV with MCE My TV. Although my HDTV wonder HD tuner (digital) works great in MCE. I have seen lots of people with this same error when I google "cinemaster mce" or "ati" but no one has a fix. This sony VAIO has a sigmatel audio card could be the audio card drivers but sony is the only source. I tried running the custom install for FLACKY Roxio suite 9 but there not much to customize. Can't figure out how to uninstall the cinemaster software. I have done alot of changes so I'll ghost back to before I installed roxio and try again. Is MCE just ME. Also so far Roxio support has yet to respond. Maybe they want me to send them more money. Looks like its time to go back to NERO

My PC is an Intel Pentium D with 2 GB 4200 Ram, dedicated 250GB Sata HD, Intel Express G chip video which is very reliable, ATI Tuner card.
I think the problem may lie with EMC 9 and the ATI Tuner card but have not been able to isolate it to find a work around. I too have all of the latest updates and drivers except for IE7 (still unsure about upgrading to IE7 just yet because of remote email server issues not related to EMC 9).
Anybody find a solution to this problem? I have my recently purchased EMC 9 on ice until I can find a work around.
Thanks in advance,

Reinstall mce
install microsoft .net 2.0
install ati drivers for aiw x1800lx
install ati driver for ati HDTV wonder
delete video registry for mce video
configure mce tuners manually for both tuners
configure ATI media center
install roxio 9 suite
install all microsoft update
install any other software including IE7 and media player 11, adobe premiere
just don't install ulead video studio
Thats all I did and everything work great.
If you don't have ulead try reloading the .net 2.0 and the mce reinstall patched or updates.
If you don't want to reinstall mce I think you could uninstalling the ati software
and reinstalling microsoft .net 2.0 first then a the latest ati software.
.net 2.0 will reregister and fix the receiver error.
ATI just released 6.12 so I have just ghosted my pc and I will try to install ulead video studio 10 to see if it will work. There has been a lot of patches for ati, microsoft, and ulead.
Hope that helps

I have uninstalled EMC 9 and my system is working like it should, including my TV Tuner in MCE 2005. I then did a clean install of EMC 9 per Roxio's instructions at here. This only brought back the same error message "Media Center has encountered a problem and needs to close" as well as losing my TV Tuner.
I really want to get EMC 9 going and do not know where to go next.
I reinstalled my ATI Theater 550 Pro tuner using the drivers supplied by Gateway for my PC.

The next time you get the receiver error click the small link in the diaglog box to get a more details of the error. It should tell you what is causing the error. My error was cinemasteraudio.dll conflict with ehrecvr.exe. Also make sure you install all including the optional updates from microsoft. If your using a wireless mouse update to the latest drivers. Also update to media player 11 which has newer codec. make sure your using the latest version of microsoft .net 2.0. I know what your going through its a real pain. If you don't have ghost I would recommend it. It lets you recover quickly. I think my problem was a audio codec or the wireless mouse drivers as well as too many codecs installed with the ulead video studio. You can try "mce-repair02" it does fix some mce .net problems. It didn't for me but some have found it to worked. I lost the web site but should be easy to fix. hopefully that works

Please, anyone out there with any ideas? I like what EMC says it can do and therefore I do not want to take this back for a refund. I'm willing to get my hands dirty....well, that was five days ago...and I'm up to my neck now.

Thanks much sirzack

I not sure why mine works, although now I have a problem where I can't update the ATI drivers. If I try MCE can't find the tuners. ATI said go back to the 6.9 drivers until they can figure it out. I think yours and my problems are a combination of bad ATI drivers, poorly written software from Roxio and the big one MCE short for ME. That is why Microsoft recommends MCE be installed by an OEM where they can write custom drivers and software for there products. The bottom line is that unless it came from the OEM no software is 100% compatiable with MCE.
As for yor problem the best solution is to disable the 3 MCE services which will not allow you to run your tuner in the MCE environment, but you can play movies and listen to music. Use the ATI mediacenter it is much better for TV and recording. If you still want to troubleshoot try different versions of the ATI drivers, don't install roxio until everything works in MCE. Get all Microsoft updates, install .net 1.0 then update to .net 2.0 that is what I did and maybe it a leftover .net driver. If you don't have ghost get it. It speeds let you go back to a previous install within 30 min.
One last word Vista has media center which has been rewritten so that may give you a clue that the XP MCE may have had some flaws. It mybe worth getting Vista
Sorry I could not be more helpfull

MCE is identical to XP Pro minus some of the domain features. (Please everybody...don't hijack this thread by discussing your opinions of MS)
I have MCE working as advertised, tuner works great, ATI works great, Media Center Services work great, UNTIL I install EMC 9. Once I install Roxio, I get the error message stated in this thread every 5 minutes or so, lose my Tuner, and MCE services are eratic.
I'm not placing blame on MS, ATI or Roxio...just the facts...some users, not all, can't get the three to work nicely together. PLEASE NOTE THAT I SAID SOME USERS, I don't benefit from posters telling me that "it works for me." Well that's great but it doesn't really help does it?
So far Roxio, ATI or MS has not been able to assist me in getting this worked out.
So, once I uninstalled EMC 9, wow...my Media Center PC works perfectly again, no system restore or reinstallation of Windows was needed.
So, until I see a fix for this, EMC 9 will not be on my system. This is really weird since I have used Adaptec/Roxio/Sonic software for years and have not had any issues.

The worst part is the error dialogue box will not go away and is a real irritant. Short of eliminating EM9 is there any work around.

Are you using IE7? I seem to have a couple of different possibilities including recently having upgraded my ATI drivers, moving to IE7 and having EC7, EC8 and EC9 still on my computer. I am afraid to remove the other two versions of EC because I have several slide shows that were created on each of them and am concerned they might not move to the EM9. I had that problem in EC5 and EC6.
After you restored, did you reinstall IE7? Do you have more than one version of EC on your system? THere seem to be only a few people on the forum with this problem. I have a 8400 Dimension Dell with an ATI 800 XT video card.

Your slide shows will not transfer from one version to the next. They will open, but any text or transitions that you had in the previous version will not show up in the next version.
