I've done this in the past using all the same hardware, but now can't remember how. I'm trying to import video off a music DVD, then edit it into individual mpeg tracks to study and practise along with.
I can do this fine using Creator 8 with commercial DVD's (these are of US origin and I'm in the UK, if that matters - I don't know much about NTSC versus PAL), but if I record a video tape into a stand-alone video recorder and then use this video as the source, Creator appears to hang.
What seems to be happening is that Creator is sitting in an endless loop failing to find TFSWAPI.DLL and DLAAPI.DLL both in the Windows system32 directory. Aninternet search seems to say that the first of these is a Sonic file, but neither seem to be installed on the machine here.
What should I do?
Program Hang

Sorry to follow up my own post, but I'm now even more confused. DLA access relates to CD packet writing and the tfswapi.dll appears to have something to do with communication with DLA files.
But I never use packet writing and it has nothing to do with the project in hand. Why would Creator be trying to access packet writing files when I'm trying to load video off a DVD?
I've looked on the original installation CD, but can't make head or tails of what is on there. Creator seems to work OK otherwise and will pull video off a commercial DVD, so I don't think I need to re-install.
I'd be very grateful for any help, or even suggestions of alternative easy to understand and use software.
PS. Update... It now seems that the hanging program relates only to that DVD whenusing the older Ricoh DVD reader in the machine, not on the newer Lite-on drive.
For speed, I've just pulled the files across and renamed the VOB files with a .mpg suffix, so I now seem to have some files that play.
I'll probably now revert to another editor as I'm not sure that I trust this Roxio stuff any more. I wish I could find a cheap editor that had simple menus for position, audio and video settings etc, and not all these stupid virtual buttons and wheels.
