Re Hope this is a forum for Dell LE problems - we have no problem creating a CD data disc (Memorex CDR) - CD drawer pops open, etc. We are not Finalizing these burns -

When the created CD is put back into the drawer later and spins up, the mouse cursor freezes - and Ctrl/Alt/Delete doesn't salvage things - one has to reboot.

This machine has Windows XP "Media Edition" SP2 installed. The CDs we create do work in the older Dell Windows 98 machine.

Thanks,

Have since discovered that loading a fresh blank CDR into the machine can also freeze up the cursor, etc.

And this has something to do with EMC 8? You haven't mentioned anything outside of your machine is having problems, which should entail a call to Dell to help you out.
