Hello,

I recently bought Toast 7 and tried backing up a few of my movies. I use MTR 2.6.6 to rip the entire disk to my hard drive. Normally I burn all features so it ends up compressed a bit (using single layer dvd) but everything is on the disk. For the heck of it I chose to burn the main feature only of a film in Toast 7. There's a lot less compression and I hardly ever watch the special features more than once. That said I figured this is a nice way to go. But, even though is says "Main Movie, format: 16x9 [length of time]" in the Toast 7 "burn Video_TS" section, it doesn't seem to format the picture the way it should be. On a 4:3 tv it is not matted (black bars on top and bottom of the screen) and a good amount of the picture is not viewable. On my 16:9 tv, more of the original picture is viewable but I've noticed text getting chopped off.

What can I do to fix this issue, if there is a fix? I normally just use the "make dvd using video_ts folder" option. Again, when I burn the entire disk (menus, special features, etc..) it is just like the original in regards to format. However, when I burn just the main movie things get a bit messed up.

Depending on how you ripped it this can be a Toast or MTR problem, I think. Let's wait for the Toast Gurus. In the mean time you should be able to find more info about this on the MTR Forum, which is here:
