I just purchased Toast Titanium 7.1 today (I had v6) So, I exported a 2GB EyeTV file to mpeg2 - which did just fine and dandy on Toast 6, but now on Toast 7 when I save to DIsc Image it tells me it needs to "ENCODE" the file and will use 6 GB. HUH?! UHM, these files DON'T NEED ENCODING! That's the beauty of EyeTV, they record in DVD ready mpeg2. Do I need to demux or remux?

So, how do I tell Toast to not do anything with the file and not re-encode it?

Depending on what type of EyeTV you have, this may not be true. AFAIK, with digital sources, EyeTV records the raw MPEG2 transport stream. This may not be compatible with DVD standards - I know that some digital terrestrial channels in the UK use a GOP which exceeds the DVD standard. These have to be re-encoded to make valid DVDs (with Toast 7.1 you get a very "jumpy" DVD; with Toast 7.2.1 they give a -50 error, though neither Elgato nor Roxio seem to know why.)

If you click the "custom" options, there's a drop-down option for re-encoding which can be set to "always", "never" or "automatic". Set it to "never" to prevent re-encoding - but check your DVD carefully when the burn finishes to make sure its playable (to save wasting media you may want to burn it to an image file first, then check it by mounting it using Toast and playing it through the Apple DVD player).
