:) Hi Everyone!

Actually my copy of EMC9 have installed ok in the beginning of Sept. 2006, and also runs ok with all the functions active.  It even coegsists with EMC7 and 8 on my hdd.  To be  honest EMC was the only reason for me to waste 20 GB on my hdd for MS Windows partition, and right now is the only reason that might convince me to have and run MS Windows based machine, well maybe the second one would be the goverment compulsory software for sending Social Insurance declarations online to the ZUS.

Please, tell me how do you do it disfunctional, and do not post obvious things like:
- I've tried to overclock my CPU, or when upgrading memory I've played with DIMM's long enough to damage it  (C++ errors - hardware)
- I was not happy with standart features of Windows OS so having nothing better to do, I've tweaked it a bit,  and now everything looks fancy and the way I like but the basic stuff cannot be launched.
- I don't like anyone spying on me, so being paranoid enough, I never install upgrades from MS guys and never register myself (BTW this gives me the great oportunity to swear and curse those poor tech support people who do not want to help me at all)
- I excuse my self as computer illterate and just want it to work!!
- I do not know how to use google, since I've never been in the moutains skiing down the hill
- I'm generally speaking a lazy person so the autostart future is just tailored to meet my needs, anything I need or not, launches automatically, and dont tell me they've made a msconfig utility to restore the system or to troubleshoot it, when does not work, I just want it to work!!!!

I would appreciate any serious suggestions on the topic and then test it on my humble ancient Dell desktop manufectured in Jan 2002, when no one would ever be even dreameing of powerfull multimedia suites such as EMC 9.

96 - back to 386 4Mb RAM - good enoug to run WIN95
97 till today  - different Pentium and AMD machines on one and two processor motherboards

since bad people in 2002 got all my data from the MS machine connected to the net, deleted permanently MS from hdd and got serious about Linux.  My basic opinion is, that any Linux is an ultimate MS Windows service pack.  :D

Memory errors are caused by:
1.faulty hardware:
1. memory: http://www.memtest86...t86-3.2.iso.zip
2.processor etc.:  http://www.dr-hardware.com/  http://www.sisoftware.net/ http://www.freshdevices.com/ if you can boot up knoppix, chances are your hardware is ok.
3.power supply:
1.do you really supply your hardware with enough electricity to run it? http://www.google.ie...G=Google Search
- calculate it using some two or three power calculators listed.  If you always get errors for instance when burning, or at the same stage of encoding, chances are, your power suplly unit is to weak.
2.Is your power supply adhearing strictly to AT/ATX voltage specifications? When voltage is to low, not everything runs exactly the way you like it
3.How about electrical machines in neigbourhood? Is there anyone welding in his/her garage at accidentally the same time you try to burn your beloved Muppet Show on DVD?
4.Fans:are they squeeky or are they dead silent? If you open the hood, are heatsinks excesively hot?  Is the closing of your power supply unit somewhat hot?
5.Do you have dust covering your dimms, mother board etc?, remember dust conducts electricity and chances are causes shortcuts and voltage leakiges.  Get acquited with your hoover.
2.damaged windows operating system
1.damaged files on the harddrive: run chkdsk utility, run system restore utility from the MS Windows install CD, or from the system restore utility (msconfig.exe)
2.wrong or conflicting versions of dll, etc (system resotre utillity from msconfig.exe)
3.inefficient installation of the MS Windows OS
1.tune it up
1.turn off visual effects (control panel -> system -> advanced -> performance -> settings -> visual effects – adjust for the best performance)
2.defrag your harddrives, then check and eventually adjust your swap file (control panel -> system -> advanced -> performance -> settings ->  change -> custom size -> initial size 800 -> maximum size 800 -> set -> ok -> restart the system)
4.excessive number of services and programs running
1.trouble shoot using your msconfig utility.......

to  be continued.......
