I would but you shouldn't have to but why wouldn't MyDVD Plus work? Wonder if you'll have the same problem with 8. Remove it to be sure and also make sure you don't have Sonic DLA installed as well.

I had to uninstall the Sonic MyDVDPlus but i still can't capture on the EMC8. Do you think i also have to uninstall the Sonic Digital Media ? There is also a Sonic label maker there.
I am new at this, so thanks for your patience.

Please post your computer specs. What type of capture hardware do you have? Many times it's best to capture with the software that is included with your capture device. I'm not sure it will make any difference by removing Sonic Digital Media.

Specs look good but just how are you trying to capture? Using the TV tuner? EMC8 hasn't been that great with many of the tuners. I've found EMC9 to be better in that department but, if MyDVD Plus was used to capture before, I'd stick with that and use EMC8 for the things it's best for and that's working with your captured video.
Are you interested in capturing tv or from a camcorder or vcr?

I am using a vcr to transfer old family tapes to dvd. everthing seems good and i have picture on the screen, but as soon as i hit capture that message comes up( Operation "Build" on Capturemanager Failed.
I got the original Mydvdplus to capture in jpeg but i couldnt playback. Media player did nothing and Realplayer said i needed to add something.
I was told my 6.2.0 dvd plus was outdated and to upgrade. I don't know why Roxio sent me EMC8 and not 9.

I'm not sure what type of capture card is in your system but many of the HP's have a Hauppauge card included. You might want to check with HP about getting updated drivers. If you know what card you have, you may be able to go directly to www.hauppague.com and get the latest drivers.
