I really wanted to use my Creator 8 on my laptop where I have lots of space. (My desktop is so full of programs there's not much space to capture longer video and edit.)

But the message kept telling me the CD-Key was wrong. Wrong? Really? I entered it a dozen times.

So I thought for the hell of it I'd try to enter the CD-Key on my laptop. Bingo. It works.

So I ended up installing it on my desktop. But I really want it on my laptop! (Whine, whine.)

Anyone experienced this? Or know why it will work on one but not the other?

Advice? Help?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, it should work but you're only supposed to use it on 1 system. But, if you take it off your desktop and put it on your laptop, that should be ok. Assuming you can get the key to work. Make sure the date is correct.

Beerman, what exactly did you mean by "Make sure the date is correct?" My laptop battery had run down. But I changed the date/time in the Control Panels. Is this what you're talking about? And did my "easy fix" not really fix it?

Thanks again for any advice you may have. THe only way I know how to change the date in the system is to let the batt run down again.

I definitely will remove it from my desktop if I can get it up on my laptop.

Thanks again!

In another post for version 9, it was suggested to check to make sure the date was current when someone was having a similar problem getting their key to work. You may even try advancing the date as well.
Also, make sure you have administrative rights to install the software. If you're not sure, go to the User Accts in the Control Panel and make sure the user name you're logged into has 'Computer Administrator' next to the name.

Checked both. I advanced date by a day and I do have admin. rights.

Roxio's dumb "Roxanne" just tells me to double-check my key input. I already know the keys are right...they work on my desktop.

This is so maddening.

Thanks for your help, Beerman. (Sending you a virtual beer...cheers!)

Wish I could help more but you might want to check with Customer Service and see if they have any info on this. It seems similar problems have been reported with EMC9.
Thanks for the virtual beer.
