I'm having the same problem. I downgraded to Toast 7.0.2 and it works fine. I don't know why 7.1 crashes when trying to burn Mpeg2 files. Hopefully they fix it soon. It takes 6 hours to burn a 1 hour movie with the non-native Toast version on an Intel Mac.

That shouldn't be. When you click the burn button Toast should say it is multiplexing. If it says it is encoding then go to the Custom Encoder settings window and choose Never next to Re-encoding. If it is taking 6 hours for multiplexing then something is wrong.

It's definitely a bug in the newer version, and as zebu mentioned, it's definitely not limited to Intel Macs. In any event, even if the source mpegs were bad, there's no reason why Toast shouldn't be able to handle the error gracefully.

I'm also running into this crash. It's been so long since I last burned a disc I can't remember if I ever successfully burned using 7.1. Given these posts I'm glad I didn't delete 7.0.2 when I did the upgrade. At least now, thanks to this thread, I know to stop holding my breath and re-install 7.0.2.
I'm on a G4 running 10.3.9. My mpeg2 files opened fine in quicktime as well as the other program I use to edit the files (MPEG Streamclip) so I don't think its a problem with the source files. I tried sending support the stack trace but haven't heard anything yet.
Has anyone received any acknowledgement about this crash? Or is that something I should even expect for "free" support?
Thanks

I will give that a try. Thanks. (As another test I retried (the same files that were crashing) using 7.0.2 and the burn worked.)

I am also unable to use Toast 7.1 to burn CDs or DVDs. The finder works for me. I have Powerbook G4 10.4.8. I think Toast has a terrible 7.1 product that does not work on macs any more! I will let you know the resolution if I fix mine.
