Valid Roxio Toast Rebate Not Honored

I purchased Toast 7 from MacMall and returned the rebate along with all required documentation (UPC, purchase receipt, etc) well within the thirty day limit. About a month later I received an e-mail and postcard from rebate headquarters stating that the rebate would not be honored because "The store where product was purchased is not participating in this rebate program".

This is very disappointing because MacMall is most definitely a participating vendor (they prominently advertise the rebate and provide a PDF copy of the rebate form on their site). What's irritating is that no real information is provided for redressing this denial. There seems to be no contact info at either the Roxio or Rebatehq site (and I'm certainly not going to pay for a toll call to Toronto).

Has anybody else run into this problem or had any experience dealing with Roxio on similar issues? Note: I did a google search on "Roxio rebate problems" and found that others have experienced the same problem. Specifically in a Macintouch Reader Report (August 2005), Adam Fingerman from Sonic Solutions thanked a reader for pointing out the problem (identical to mine), apologizing for the mistake, and promising action from customer support to resolve the issue. Unfortunately it appears that 5 months later not much has changed. This obviously reflects very poorly on Roxio and I would think twice before buying any Roxio product in the future ...

I've sent you an e-mail so we can investigate and approve the rebate if everything mentioned above is correct. I do appologize, and we'll do what we can to correct this.
