I could have sworn in Roxio 7 i was able to control (e.g., rewind, forward, play) my Sony digital mini-DV camera with the Roxio software. I don't see the controls when using the Capture feature in v.8. (I am using the USB connector now and before i used to use Firewire to connect my camera to my PC.)

Am i missing something?

thx

Roxio requires a Firewire connection when capturing from digital camcorders. Why did you change?

I was able to capture from my Sony mini-DV using USB.
I bought a new [faster] Dell and it has no Firewire. My old Sony laptop did.

If your new Dell is a laptop, you can get a PCMCIA firewire card for cheap... even PC PCI slot cards are cheap, and you can get one with both firewire and USB plugs on the same card--can be handy.
