hi:
1. i've been using popcorn for several years--> no problems until today.
2. i've been following the same procedure for a while with no problems--> burning a video TS folder to a DVD-R (the same media I've been using for a while--TDK) and using the same DVD burner (lacie) and using the same cpu / os (Mac 10.4.7).
3. however today, i got an error message: "interface error -50, the connection is not stable", after that i got several other error messages.
4. question: i'm 99.99% sure the problem is not with the video TS folder, nor the hardware... and probably not even the software--> simply because absolutely nothing has changed in my system from yesterday to today, but obviously something has because i can no longer burn a DVD. any help is appreciated.

1. after reading various posts about my similar problem, i did the basic bone-head recommendations and yes--> the problem has been resolved.
2. the solution to my problem was:
a. using different media: without changing any settings, i used a different DVD brand and popcorn burned the DVD fine. now the thing i can't explain (other than the fact that the current batch of TDK DVDs are somewhat defective) is why i was able to burn using TDK DVDs, but since yesterday--> those same TDK DVDs are not burnable (what's interesting is that I did open up a new pack of TDK DVDs and thus perhaps this particular pack is defective in some way). anyway, the bottomline is that using different DVD media solved the problem.
b. the other solution was to simply decrease the burn rate; my default has been "best", but I just decreased it to 8X--> and then i was actually able to utilize my "defective" TDK DVDs and burn fine with them.
3. moral of the story: the usual recommendations actually do help.
thanks. harry shin
