hey, i am trying to durn an mp4 file that is aprox 1.9GB on toast 6. Im using a 4.7 GB disc (or so it says) and when i click burn it says i do not have enough space on the dvd. When i look at the info of the dvd it shows there is onli 4.3GB available ( even though it says 4.7GB ). But how does this matter as i am buring a file that is only 1.9GB. Pls if anyone can give me some help i would be very grateful.

Your MPEG 4 video is compressed much smaller than the MPEG 2 that is required for a video DVD. What matters is how long the video is, not what size the file is. Toast 6 can fit 90 minutes maximum to a DVD when it does the MPEG 2 encoding. Toast 7 probably could fit your movie.

The actual capacity of a single-layer DVD disc is just under 4.4 GB. There's an official explanation for this, but it doesn't change the reality that the labeling is misleading.

I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
