Frank are you out there?  I recently installed a new DVDW drive and a Belkin Firewire 3 port PCI card and purchased a 4-6 pin firewire cable to get the video from my Canon camcorder to Roxio.   Here is the problem - I thought (by looking at the port in the front of my computer) that I needed the 4-6 pin connection, when really all I have in the front of the computer is a USB port!!  Now what should I do? Can I install a DV port in my computer myself?  I checked the back of the computer, but no DV port there.  Help! Thanks so much.

The Belkin Firewire card is your "DV port"…

Plug in the 6 pin end of the wire to that and the 4 pin end will go in your camcorder.

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 w/AGP8X

James - thank you!  But that means I have to open the computer each time I want to download video right? Thanks again!

Hi Una,
The Belkin Firewire 3 port PCI card, has 3 slots at the back bottom outside of your pc case. Plug the Firewire cable in there, run the wire around somewhere out of the way. When you want to capture plug the loose end into the camera.

Yes - I did get the NEC, and it works really well!! I have been burning all my pictures to disks for a backup and now I need to get back to my video project.  I appreciate all your help.
