I am having an identical problem using EMC 9 as reported in a similar post in the EMC 8 forum. This is a duplicate of a reply in the EMC 8 forum since strictly speaking I am experiencing the problem in EMC 9 even thoguh it is the same as experienced in EMC 8.

I have been through many posts and have complied with all of the suggestions/recommendations set out in the various posts that I have researched but always with the same error occurring.

My system is as follows:

DELL Inspiron 9100
NEC DVD+RW ND-5100A
WINXP SP2, IE6

BIOS and all firmware is at the latest release.

The system was supplied with Sonic MyDVD 5 and RecordNow 6.5 and worked when I first got it. After a disk malfunction I rebuilt my system and everything worked fine except the installation of RecordNow 6.5 and Sonic MyDVD 5 from the original disks. I decided to buy EMC 9 and have cleaned out the Sonic stuff and on many occasions gone through a completely (to the best of my knowledge) clean install of EMC 9. All functions of EMC 9 seem to work OK EXCEPT RecordNow Data, RecordNow Copy, RecordNow Audio - so I guess it's just RecordNow that is having the trouble.

When I invoke RecordNow it displays the splash screen and seems to start up Roxio Central33.exe but then gives a dialogue box with no error shown. On closing the dialogue box it then displays "Invalid Pointer comerror 80004003". If I try to invoke RecordNow a second time it does nothing. Stopping the Roxio Central33 process and restarting RecordNow it reverts to displaying the splash screen and the comerror.

Any help would be much appreciated since I am progressively going mad trying to get it going.

Can someone please have a look at this issue for me - there must be someone at Roxio who can point me in the right direction...

This site is a users forum. A Roxio person drops by once in awhile, so hopefully they will see your post.

Thanks - the site is much better resourced than any Roxio site I have tried.

I have finally resolved the issue that I was experiencing. I registered the following dll:

regsvr32 MSXML3.dll

and EMC 9 now functions well.

How do you do this? I am experiencing the same problem and all Roxio can tell me is to reinstall which I have tried many times.

I was frustrated with the same problem over the last few days. Thanks to Martin it is fixed.

Click on Start --> Run Then type: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32.exe msxml3.dll ENTER

I had to reboot as well. Then Roxio worked fine! Hope that helps.

Thanks for that Shel. One note to add is, you don't type the word ENTER. You hit the Enter key.

I have been fighting this for weeks with EMC8... I was almost ready to throw a brand new program out and go back to EMC6.... Decided to do a search on the error message and came up here...
I missed part of the file string the first time and then missed the part about rebooting...BUT... when I did the right stuff....ALL MY PROBLEMS WERE FIXED.... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU..... Martin...you are OKAY.
