In trying to install ECM 9 I am getting the following error message: Mrating MFC application has encountered a problem and needs to close. I am using XP Pro and in submitting the error to Microsoft I find out the problem is a CD or DVD disk drive error detected. In troubleshooting the error I find a error message of 1005 which says can not open D:\rcp_easyarchive_33\bin\mrating.exe. Even tried installing in the safe mode with same result. Any ideas on how to bypass this problem?

Load the disk to your hard drive, and try to install from there.
