:) Yesterday I made a posting and did not give the full details of how I got where I am.
All previous versions of Easy Media have installed and worked fine. The last being #8. But after installing version 9 everything seemed to be ok. I could burn data disks, copy DVDs, etc. I had made the default full installation of the program and answered YES when it asked to remove the older versions.
But when I started to browse the web at certain sites it would try and install a SONIX video player program. It would not be able to do it since the required file was not in the TEMP folder.
I put up with this for a couple of weeks, until yesterday. I had some spare time so I decided to remove and reinstall the program.
That is when things became fun. When I tried I used the Add or Remove Programs feature it said that is did not find the required installation file (I looked in the Windows/Installer folder and there were 30+ items from Roxio 9.) So it automatically aborted the delete. It supposedly reinstalled what it seemingly had already deleted. Except now nothing would run because the required certificate file was missing. I looked in the Roxio Shared folder and there was nothing in Certificates8 folder other than a Bump folder with the license agreement. I tried reinstalling the program, but that would not work since it was already installed.
So I can not install or delete the program - and more importantly I can't use it. I can't reinstall an older version because 9 is still there.
I need those certificates. I didn't buy the program for fun, I need it for work.

Thanks

BFN

Try the Microsoft Cleanup Utility to remove EMC 9 then manually delete the Roxio folders, reboot and reinstall.

:) Well it worked up to a point.

I was able to delete EM9 and all Roxio and Sonic programs using the Microsoft installer cleanup utility. But when I tried to install EM9 I got CD Key Invalid message. I knew the key was valid because I had installed the program previously. I called Customer Service and they confirmed that I had a valid key.
I then went through the online automatic troubleshooting and checked that I had permission in Roxio. No problem.

I rebooted my machine and tried again - no luck. Same message.

I see from previous posts on this forum that the problem might be connected to the fact that I am running IE 7.

Well, EM8 reinstalled ok. I will wait until someone comes up with a fix for EM9 installation program. There must be lots of new customers with the same problem.

There is a sticky note posted mentioning the EMC and IE7 won't work and well as that EMC is not yet ready for Vista but both will be working when they are formally released.  If you have IE7 installed and don't want to roll back to 6, then you won't be able to fully use EMC9 as it interferes with mpeg activation.

AJX - parts of EMC actually embeds IE like the Home application. EMC was designed for IE6.  At this point in time, you have to remove IE7 if you want to use EMC 9.
