Flagged on AVG antivirus install issue ???? My AVG antivirus suffered a broken 'auto-update' function. I Elected to simply reinstall the AVG - then a popup stopped me warning:

[AVG detected Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creater which has a 'bug'. You need to update your bugged Roxio version before re-installing AVG 7.0!]

My Roxio came with a DVD burner some time back and it has worked great for me . Ver. 6.1.1.48 basic.

Anyone have a clue what AVG antivirus is complaining about???

Thanks

According to the AVG Free Support forums, you should have been redirected to a Roxio website that has an updated Roxio CD driver available for version 6. Try updating your Roxio before installing AVG.

I'm surprised your system even runs with that old CD driver, gives me nothing but BSOD.

It's a "false positive" on the part of AVG.

It's why I've never considered installling AVG.

Well, I've been running AVG for years and it has not been a problem with Roxio or any of my other programs including PhotoShop and an XAMPP development server.   Just lucky, I guess.

Wonder if it has anything to do with sequence (which was installed first - like, it's possible to install ECDC 5 OVER SP2 on WinXP, but the reverse is troublel), or which Versin of AVG.

There appears to be a Win2000 computer w/AVG loaded in my near future.  I may experiment, if I can Ghost the thing.

That's always a possibility.  In my case AVG was one of the first things I loaded after XP was installed.  Everything else got installed after.  I do manual updates and keep it current.

If you already have Ghost, you can give it a try.  Personally, I use Acronis True Image and it has not failed me.  There were several restores of my C drive when I was trying to get EMC 7.5 to work last spring.  You might remember that the final solution was changing the Data Execution Prevention setting.  :)

The WinXP has Ghost; the Win98 SE does not.  And I'm not sure I can install on 2 machines with the same Norton copy, I think not.  So Norton SW 2005 will probably be among the first expenses for the "free" compouter (25 hours).

Gerry,

I'm sorry all these people have forgotten you and are busy discussing other things among themselves. I think it's called a "short span of attention" on their part.

I believe that AVG has an issue with the CDR4 sys file that version 6 uses, and the error link should have sent you to a file which updates CDR4 to a version which doesn't get AVG's knickers in a knot.

The reference you need is HERE on the Roxio site.
P4 @3.20GHz on Albatron PX-865PE Pro II with 2GB DDR-SDRAM, FX5900XT video, Viewsonic monitors,

I blame it all on Global Warming / Global Cooling / Global Staying the Same  [pick one]
