I have a small video created on my hard drive. I burned it to a DVD-RW and played it on a stand alone DVD player. No problem. I then wanted to copy the DVD-RW to a DVD-R. The -R will be a permanent copy, and the -RW will be erased and used again as I create and experiment.
The copying seemed to go OK but when I tried to play the -R copy on my DVD player, nothing happens except that a small circle with a diagonal line through it (the standard "not" symbol) appears on my tV screen.
So, it is possible to use Disc Copier to copy a DVD-RW to a DVD-R?

( I have gone through "Roxanne" a couple of times with no success and I don't see where Roxio offers other technical support, except for a price.)

I hope someone can help.
Thanks.

I don't have 2 dvd burners to test this but I usually burn to an ISO then test to an RW. Later I just use the ISO again and burn to a DVD. I would think that just like copying an audio disc you can copy an RW to +R especially if you get no error while doing so. I don't think I've ever read a post about this and you have me curious.
Any testers with 2 dvd burners want to give this a try and see what happens? Enquiring minds want to know.

I'm game! Give it a try and report back in a little while.

I'm Back! Well it did work but not without some unexpected difficulty… I made a short 3 menu movie in MyDVD and burned to a DVD-RW.

Using Disc Copier (V8) it simply would not burn – Unspecified Error. Even to create a Video File, without burning, would not work.

I switched to Disc Copier (V9) and it worked without a hitch burning to a DVD-R. The –R played in an old Player (1997) and it does not like –R media. Also tested the DVD-R on another Player and it played there too.

(My problems with V8 are probably due to working with V9 beta before the final build and could be corrected with a Repair/Install)

Unless I am missing something, DC (either version) does not preserve the menu structure during copy.

To maintain menu structure you would want to use RecordNow Copy, which is part of the V8 Suite. That program did work to copy and it does preserve the existing menu structure.
