I am using EMC 8 - Backup to backup my AVI video files, which are ~ 12.6 GB. I have done this numerous times sucessfully. Recently, the backups started failing at 68% on the first of 3 DVD-R's. It gives the error message 'medium error". I have been using the same Verbatim DVD-R's all along and I also tried Imation DVD-R's. The same error occured at 68%. I reinstalled the software to no avail. The only time I was able to get the backup to work was when I used Memorex DVD-RW's. Can someone tell me why my backups stopped working and why they fail at 68%.
Thank you,
Ward

Which backup are you using, Roxio Backup or Backup MyPC. For true backups, Backup MyPC is by far superior over Roxio Backup. It will go to 32 disks, whether CD or DVD and does file compression. The only drawback, if you call it that, is you need Backup MyPC to restoe the files.
As far as Roxio Backup, you might as well just create data DVD's of your files.
