I try to activate and get "No Permission - Bad Installation" message.  I've turned off all firewalls.

What gives with this????

Do you have IE 7 installed? If so remove it then try.

See this post.
I had this and other problems and finally formated my disc and started over.  I'm not saying this has to be done but in my case, I had 2 years of junk built up and I wanted to start fresh.

Just did a clean re-install - wiping everything out - including the directory. Same crap message.

I'm just about had it up to my eye balls with Roxio.  Issues on EVERY release.  I haven't had a clean install once with this stuff.

thanks for the advice Beerman - but reformat ain't an option.  I'll move on to other software before I do that - again (see above).

While activating MPEG-2 is get this error
There was a problem activating your product. This could be due to:

(nothing else)

It seems that i get new bugs and errors every day.. This is really frustrating.

I got that message yesterday on another machine.  It got hung up trying to connect to the Roxio server.  It could be down.

I have exactly the same problem ... "no permission - bad installation".
You mention Nortons.  Is there a problem running Norton Antivirus with the software?

I haven't had any problem with Norton AV but you might try turning off worm protection and see if that helps.  I've not had to do this but it's worth a try.  Maybe there's a known issue that's unknown to me. :)

Keep trying. I had the same problem for almost 3 days before it finally worked.

I pinged their server after it failed a few times and I got time outs so their server may be getting too many hits at once.

hope this helps.
