DirectX what version

How do can I tell what DirectX version my computer can handle (i.e. can it support EMC 9) ? :huh: :) Thanks in advance.

Start, run and type 'dxdiag'.

Not sure that's gonna do what they want Paul.That will tell them what version they're on but I don't think it will tell if the video card will support DX9.Most likely the only way to tell is find out the video card maker and model and look up the specs on their site.

You are correct sir but it is a useful tool. He can look at the Display Properties under Settings then the Advanced tab to look at Direct 3D and DirectDraw if his card supports it. That's some clues to work with as well.

I agree that it's a useful tool.Running it will give you loads of info.It's also a good place to try the sound tests.It never hurts to make sure everything is compatible.
