I was completing an encoding production of a slideshow which was edited in VideoWave. After the movie encoding finished and the program went to encoding the menu, the following error message came up. Error 80040207. Error while encoding menu. The production burned to the disc, but the menu did not.

Has anyone had this problem? If so, please advise a solution if known.

Thanks,
Bill

Yes, I have exactly the same problem and recently posted a question similar to yours. No one responded to my question either. I do not know enough to really suggest a solution but I was able to get a menu encoded on a test movie by forcing the rendering selection to "software" rather than "hardware". Run MyDVD/Videowave. Under tools/options you will see how to select one or the other. The test button is supposed to suggest to you which method "should" be best for your computer. Please note, however, I am just passing this along from infotmation I have seen in the forum. I have little to no expertise.

Updated drivers and changing from hardware to software render has helped some but not all. It appears to be the only thing that might help. Please let us know if, in fact, this does work for you.

I updated the drivers for my Sony DVD RW DRU-820A burner and it fixed the problem.

I am having similar problems encoding, error code 80004005 as well as:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program: C:\program files\roxio\video UI 9\videowave 9.exe

R6025-pure virtual function call

NetFrame 1.1 not supported

direct x 9 not noncompliance

I have installed Netframe 3.0. Installed new drivers for my DVD+R RW. Updated Windows drivers.
I talked to Dell and they said Roxio was familiar with the problem and a fix was due. Time frame unknown.

@jdjacobson: Switch to software rendering. It will encode at a snail's pace, but you should not get the encoding menu error.

Click on Tools, then Options. You will see it right at the top.
