Is it worth getting version 9?

I'm still waiting for them to fix the issues with version 8.

Frankly I'm tired of spending all this money to get products that are not finished. (Not just Roxio either.)

Oh well I still have Versions 6 and 7 and they seem to work well still.

What do you use 6 & 7 for that you need 8 or 9?  It is a matter of personal opinion and I only upgrade programs I use regularly when they come out with better software.  True 9 is much like 8 and the differences are not huge as in previous upgrades.  Some who want to watch movies on handhelds benefit.  There's better backup and video choices.  Generally, more tweaking ability but it's not a 'gotta have' for many folks.  If you can get by with 6 & 7 and they do what you need, there's no reason to upgrade.

I don't know what issues you had in Version 8, but EMC 9 is better.  First, there are enhancements in VW and MyDVD, and there is only one version of 9, with no parts of it greyed out, like there was in 8.

I really liked the output DVD quailty I got from 8 over 6 and 7.

I still have trouble with the video editor crashing on me and getting the thumbnail previews to work correctly.

Then there are the black screens of death I get occationally in my DVD creator, and getting the labels to line up. (It was so bad I used version 7 to make them, and it's not that great either.)

Before that was worse. I only resolved most of the other problems by starting over on a fresh installed system without any sonic programs on it.

Thanks for the info. If its more stable and reliable then 8 I my consider it.

Your computer should handle EMC 9 with no problem, except, you are a little light on the video card.  I have the ATI 9800 Pro in my other computer, and it runs 9 ok, but I am not sure about your 9200.  Make sure that you have the latest Catalyst drivers installed.

BTW, I found EMC 8 encoding to be far inferior to EMC 7.5, so I never used 8 for any video work.  EMC 9 encoding is much better.

Well I recently upgraded to Geforce 6200 AGP 8x 256MB video card and will get an even nicer one in the near future.

However it didn't seem to help me with the few issues I have with version 8.

I'll keep checking here and seeing what everyone has to say before I buy version 9. At this point I'm in no hurry.
