I originally asked this question in the "How To" forum, but it was suggested that my question might be too basic. So, I'm asking it here, hoping that this is the correct place for a basic question.
I purchased EMC 9 just a few days ago. I have never owned any DVD burner before, nor any software that could burn DVD's. I tried to burn some videos which I downloaded from off of the web, onto a DVD. It worked, but I didn't get quite what I want. However, I think I've got the wrong nomenclature in mind. I am very sorry for sounding so ignorant, but please put up with me as I get painfully obvious.
On commercial DVDs of TV shows, I'll see something like a list of all of the shows on the DVD. You can select any particular show and see the show either in its entirety, or you can jump into it somewhere in the middle. For example, let's say you've got a DVD on the TV show Monk. It has a list of shows on it, like, "Mr. Monk and the Newspaper Boy", "Mr. Monk and the Lottery", etc. I call each of these shows. I could choose a show, let's say, "Mr. Monk and the Lottery", and either watch all of "Mr. Monk and the Lottery", or I have the option of seeing some division of the show, starting somewhere other than at the beginning. Normally there are 4 of these per show. I call these episodes.
I wanted to be able to do the same thing with the separate videos that I downloaded from the web, make it possible for someone to go to a particular episode within the whole show, or movie, that I was making. I had thought that myDVD would let me be able to specify the individual episodes, as well as the whole show, which I believe myDVD called movies.
However, I am beginning to think that I am seriously wrong/mistaken about what nomenclature I am using. I couldn't find anything in the manual (at least nothing easily identifiable) related to episodes, at least in the way that I use them. So, I bet I've got the wrong terms. Is show right? Are those individual parts which, together comprise a whole movie, called titles? Or chapters? Or something else? I am gettng the feeling that once I get this correct, I'll be able to find what I want in the manual and probably answer most of my questions there.
Thank you very much for your patience with my clear inexperience.

Your shows = Movies (aka titles), episodes = Chapters
