I don't have the original DVDs, only the disk images of some applications
I want to burn them to dvd-dl, (6 Gbs of info)
I used Toast 6, and memorex dual layer dvds, and got these error messages:

1. "the drive reported an arror:
Sense key= ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense cose: = 0x72, 0x04
EMPTY OR PARTIALLY WRITTEN RESERVED TRACK"

two error windows with this same message, then:

2. "Lead-in or Lead-out failed to be written"

I ejected the dvds, then re inserted them.
They appear to contain data (all the icons are there), and 'get info' indicates they hold the same amount of gb as the original disk images.

Question: are these dvd's going to be okay to use should I need to re install the apps in the future? (should i just ignore these error messages?)

Or should Ithrow them away and burn the images again using Toast 7? ( I transferred them to my portable drive and burned one at work using 7: no errors)

Thank you

The may or may not be accurate copies of the original data. My guess is that if there was an error, that you are missing at least some data.

I suspect you need to experiment with several brands of DL Media to see what works best with your recorder.

Thank you
I just needed to hear somebody actually tell me "they're not trustworthy" before I could let them go!
I'll try it again with verbatim; i bought some today

I am had a similar problem. I burned initially from a disk image using Apple's Disk Untility. The mounted disk image plays fine. Burned disks (Memorex) dual layer disks do not. Any item that crosses the layer boundary does not play. I want to try Toast 6, which I have, but was not sure it handles the layer transition properly. It sounds like it is suppose to. I am reluctant to keep throwing away $3 at a pop for the DVDs. Should Toast 6 work properly? I am aware that the issue might be media related. Seems that Verbatim has the best rep, so far for dual layer, but I was not able to find any locally.
