Hi,

Looking for help.  I liked EASY CD/DVD Creator Basic 6.  Thought it would be great to get EMC 8 Suite.
So far, I;m having bad luck.  I have Pinnacle 9 Plus, and if I can't get this working soon, will give up on it forever.

I installed the software, and did have a problem with CinePlayer. It asked for the CD Key, which I added but did not like it.  So I skipped this.

Once I installed the EMX 8 Content CD, I went to try to play with EMC 8 .

On many of the programs (Classis Creator, Create or Edit DVD Project, Caputre Video, Edit Video, etc...) I'm getting a message: This is an invalid installation.

I tried to register the software by clicking the registration within EMC 8 but it goes nowhere.  I ended up registering onlline just so I could get to this forum.

Can anyone give me some help?  Any help would be appreciated.

Jaime

Thanks for the interest.  I got the Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Suite from E-bay. Someone was selling 14 new boxes and I bought one.  The box is original, unopened and the instruction manual, and two sealed disks included.

1 - Roxio Easy media Creator 8 Suite which came with a CD Key
     - It also has a TSID number as well

2 - Roxio Easy Media Creator Content for the above as well.

Here is some of my system information:
- Windows XP Home Version 2002 with Service Pack 2 installed
- Radeon 9600 Display adapter

When I originally installed it, since I had Roxio Easy CD&DVD Basic 6, it asked me that I had to uninstall it, which I did.

Then It installed the MediaCreator 8 Suite and it asked me for the CD KEY, which I put in, and it continued to load.  But when it got to CinePlayer, it asked for a CD KEY, so I put the same one in. It did not like it, so I skipped this.

It finsihed installing and asked me to re-boot my PC, whcih I did.

I then went on to add the Easy Media Creator 8 Content and it installed it.

It never asked me to go through the registration process.  In the home page of the program, there is a registration key, which I selected, but nothing happens.  There is also an updates selection, but when I click this, nothing happens.

So I went out on the Roxio website to register my product, however, it did have EMC8, so I selected this, however in the drop down box, all it let me select is Roxio Creator 8 Plus with the CD Key.  However, when I look out there on MyAccount, it's listed.

I download the update (EMC80 805 Update)from the web, and went to install it, the windows installer gives me a message:  The upgrade patch cannot be installed by windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Veriy that the program to be updated exists on your and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

In any event, many of the content from EMC8 is not functional because when I click on them, it gives me " This is an invalid installation.

What are my options?  Am I out of luck?  I guess if I have to, I'll go back to Pinnacle Studio, however I felt it was very slow and clumsy.

Any additional thought, help will be appreciated.

Jaime

First, you could try a repair through Add/Remove Programs, or if that doesn't work, do an uninstall/reinstall.

Can you open any programs?  If you can open VideoWave, Sound Editor, or MyDVD, go to Help/About, and see what the build number is.  If it starts with 8.05, you have the latest build, and you don't need the download.

Yes, I have tried to uninstall it and re-install it twice. Same issue.

Some of the items do work in the Suite, such as:
Quick DVD Creation
Plug and Burn to DVD
Autoedit with Cinemagic

When I go to modify or repair, the Roxio Media Creator 8 Suite 8 Installation Wizard gives me back an error code of : UNABLE TO FIND A CERTIFICATE FILE.

When I click OK, it goes through the installation, repair process because it asks me to insert the EMC 8 Suite disk into the drive.

Thanks for any additional input / support

ONE MORE ITEM TO OFFER ABOUT MY ISSUE:

When I go into applications in the HOME window, there is only one selection that works:
It's: BACKUP MYPC

All the others give me an error message of This is an invalid application. Please re-install again

Looks like I'm out of luck.  Probably my best bet is to try to get my money back due to a non-functioning software.

I'll accept any other suggestions at this time.

Download the Microsoft Cleanup Utility, and run that.  Then delete all Roxio and Sonic folders you have on your computer, reboot, and try installing again.

Also, list your system specs, similar to how I have mine in my signature.

Hi again,

I followed your instructions exactly, but I got the same issue.  From what i can see, none of the applications loaded. Is it possible that I have a EMC8 version that does not have all the bells and whistles?

The box states that the New Easy Media Creator 8 Suite integrates over 25 software products such as:  (and it goes and lists a whole bunch of stuff)

Could it be that I only have the shell??

It keeps giving me that it's unable to find the certificate file?  Can this be why the features such as VideoWave, CinePlayer etc... are not active?

Please note that this item is now closed.

I went to the knowledge website thinking that the Unable to get a certificate was the issue.

Yes, it was. It told me to fix my regedit file, remove software, then reinstall it.

Everything is fine now.

Thank you all for helping me out. :)

When Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Suite Loaded, none of the applications were working.

Went to the knowledge center and they told me to:
Fix registry permissions
Click on Start'Run, then type "regedit" ("regedt32" for Win2k users) and click OK
In RegEdit, expand ("+" sign) "HKEY_Local_Machine"
Now expand "Software"
Right-click on the key (folder) called "Roxio" and choose "Permissions" (maybe in "Security" folder)
Make sure that Administrators and System have "Full Control" - "Allow" selected
If you had to select, click on Apply
Click Advanced
Select "Replace permission entries on all child objects with the entries shown here that apply to child objects"
Click OK then click OK again
Now close RegEdit

Uninstall Easy Media Creator 8
Click on Start Control Panel
Double click on "Add/Remove Programs"
Locate and select Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 and "Remove"
Reboot your computer once complete

Re-install Easy Media Creator 8 and reboot.

Worked like a charm
