Hi,

I use Toast 6.1.1 on a Mac OS 10.3.9 at an iBook G4 12". All OS security updates downloaded.
I'm being unable to burn CDs in any of the functions available (Data, Audio, Video and Copy). After pressing the "record" button (Cmd+R), the area that says "Status" (beneath the menu of recorders) freezes and the program crashes.
I've tried to trash preferences, reinstall, update (I was using version 6.0.5 before) but to no avail. No matter if I'm using CD-Rs or CD-RWs (including ones that were "quick erased" by Toast before), still the same crash occurs. The copy function doesn't even work (as soon as the "record" button is pressed it crashes). All other functions that doesn't rely on burning (like mount images or erase CDs) seems to work fine.
Strangely this problem doesn't occur on other user sessions at this same computer, but this still is really annoying as I need to burn some data from my session (where the problem is).

Anyway, I'm pasting bellow the beginning of the crash report Mac OS made to send to see if it helps. I can't post it completely because of post length limitations but if somebody asks, I can send by e-mail.
So here it is:

Date/Time:      2006-10-15 22:25:40 -0400
OS Version:     10.3.9 (Build 7W98)
Report Version: 2

Command: Toast Titanium
Path:    /Applications/Roxio Toast 6 Titanium/Toast 6 Titanium.app/Contents/MacOS/Toast Titanium
Version: 6.1.1 (6.1.1)
PID:     2377
Thread:  0

Exception:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes:      KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000006

I hope somebody can help me out on this please, because I really need Toast working.

Try buring to an image file rather then to the recorder.  There is an option to do so on the file menu (rather then clicking on the record button).

Still I can't burn a CD from this image using Toast.
Sure, that solves partially the problem because I can use the easy interface of Toast to arrange the files and prepare them to burn putting them on an image and later burning it using Disk Utility. But that doesn't solve the problem with burning in Toast.

So, is there any help for me?

Thx;

Well, I have to admit I was wrong. I reloaded OS X. 4.8 Combo (actually my original upgrade was through Software UPdate) and surprise, surprise, everything works!

the suggestion is much appreciated but I would've rather seen that appear in the UPgrades or as a email notification instead of wasting a couple of hours trying to find out what the problem was.

Again, thanks for the info. Maybe now I'll be using the burner more and get Seven

I can't see what does this message have to do with my problem here.  :)

I won't upgrade to Tiger (which will cost me at least US$149) just to have Toast working properly in my session.

Please, can somebody help me out here?

Nobody has a solution for this problem here? Isn't there anyone from Roxio who can help me?
Very disappointing!  :)

I have to say I'm very disappointed by the customer service and support in general. I didn't get any satisfactory response to my problem nor I could get it solved.
Although I used to like it a lot, I can't have a software installed in my system that doesn't work, and worse, which although is commercial doesn't have a decent support.
So I just uninstalled it from system, and now I hope that someday Nero will come to Mac so there can be some competition on this area; than maybe Roxio will start to give more attention to it's customers problems.
