I am hoping this is not just me.

This week, I lost the ability to get sound out from any and all of mt Roxio apps on Mac OS X (10.4.8). It started with Jam (6.0.3). It has been fine, until I started to save a session as a disc image. It was trying to close the session, and told me that it couldn't establish a connection to my Bluetooth device! (This makes no sense. It is set up to use Mac OS X Audio HAL for output.) I have totally disabled Bluetooth, and have tried to change prefs to use other audio outputs; nothing works, and the prefs do not "take." I have tried trashing all of my prefs, for all my Roxio apps, but I cannot get sound out, so I cannot preview crossfades, etc.

Has anyone else encountered this. Beyond the plist and prefs files, is there something else I should be trashing?

Thanks,

-v

Check to see what the output settings are in the Audio Midi Setup application in your Utilities folder.

Are you trying to listen via built-in speakers, head phones, external speaker?
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Thanks. everything is set for "built in audio." This is very odd. Everything else (iTunes, Quicktime, system) produces sound just fine, it's just the Roxio apps that have gone silent.

Sorry, I'm stumped too. Aside from repairing permissions in Disk Utility and running Disk Warrior or Disk First Aid, I don't know what else to suggest. You might try creating another user account and see if the same problem exists there. I can't think of anything that would mute the audio out just from Roxio apps.

Ick. Yeah, I am befuddled, too. I moved the Jam app and the prefs/plist to another Mac, and it worked fine. This is truly odd. As said, it started out of the blue when I was simply trying to rip a cd image to disc, and it gave me the Bluetooth complaint -- which is DOUBLY strange, 'cause I didn't change anything, or install any apps since the last time it worked fine. Ick, ick, ick. I **love** this app, use it all the time when I'm on the road with my Powerbook, and can't use it now unless I'm home :-(

OK! FOUND THE PROBLEM! Since I hadn't installed or changed anything, I got desperate and starting zapping any odd applications I **had** simply run since the last time Jam worked. I zapped a simple player app called "Cog" and all the support files, and, like magic, Jam works again. Lucky guess, I guess. Whew!

Thanks for the help :-)
