Here's a frustrating item...I have several videos that I have made...one is home video I recorded to DVD using a DVR and then using the video editor from the Roxio Home converted it to mpg. The rest are shows that i created using Videowave. When I try to view them, I get this message first:

"Annoying little box!" said:

The CinePlayer decoders have not yet been activated.
You must activate the product before use.
Please run the player that included these decoders in order to activate the product.

So then WMP10 wants to get online to get the correct codec (never did that before to view these files). Then i get this:

Copy protection cannot be enabled.
Please make sure any other copy protected content is not being shown now.

I know for a fact that these files are not copy protected, and I know they are not corrupted. I am able to view them if I open them in Roxio (Videowave for example). Why will WMP no longer play them?
Note that I am getting the first message about decoders as soon as I open the folder that contains these files WITHOUT trying to open them first. And then it pops up again when I do try to access them.

On a related issue, the video I recorded using my DVR was onto +RW...the video files are ok, but when i try to use the capture feature it says they are corrupted. I can however play them back in the DVR or using Roxio player.....
Thanks!

I'll guess that you have version 7.5 since it mentions CinePlayer. Just open CinePlayer and that should "activate" it's decoders and you should be fine.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Yes, 7.5. And thankyou, this took care of my problem!!
So when it's saying decoder, is that along the same lines of the codecs? I would have thought that they would have been installed when Roxio was installed, not when the player is opened for the first time.....these files can be viewed on another PC without this issue...
Thankyou again Larry!!

I think it is the same as codecs in this case. They are installed when you installed EMC 7.5, but their license needs to be activated, thus the need to open CinePlayer the one time. It probably has something to do with licensing fees between the codec supplier and Roxio/Sonic. At least you got it working, that's the main thing :) Good Luck
