Ok... I have in my possession a DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, and CD-RW.  Nothing is working.  When I hit "Burn to CD" the burn button stays gray.  It's only when I hit Create Folder Set that it will turn black to where I can actually push it.  I have created a folder set.

I am in a pickle people.  What do I do?

Start by giving us some more information please. Like what it is you are trying to copy. A video file, a disc, an image file, ...?
Which program are you using? Disc Copier, Creator Classic,....?
What settings did you select?
What is the make/model of your burner and your system information?

Ok I am using MyDVD8 to burn a slideshow/dvd to be played at my roommates wedding.

I have a Compaq Presario with a CD-RW drive and a DVD-ROM drive...

I'm at a loss--what else do you need?

I'll make the guess then that your project settings in MyDVD are for a DVD project. Since you state you have some kind of CD-RW drive (presumably a burner) and some kind of DVD-ROM drive, you don;t appear to have the hardware neccessary to burn to a DVD disc. To do that you need a DVD drive capable of burning to a DVD disc. A CD burner drive can only burn to CD discs, and a DVD-ROM can only read DVD discs.

You can try changing your MyDVD project settings to a VCD or SVCD project (the ones for burning to CD discs). You should then be able to burn to the CD-RW drive using CD discs.

Keep in mind, a VCD or SVCD tho will be of lower quality than a DVD, and not all DVD players will be able to play them.

Your other option would be to get and install an actual DVD burner drive, and then you could burn your project to a DVD disc.
