I bought version 9 solely to allow me to copy tivo file to dvd. Not sure if I am doing anything wrong but the copy or tivo reformatting takes hours...quite often the app times out. Why should a tivo copied movie...say a 1 1/2 hour movie recorded at high res..take over 4 hours to run...don't know how long it actually take to do the entire movie since the process never really finishes.

Do a search on the forum for tivo. There has been much discussion. It appears that tivo files do not fall within the limits of MyDVD so it has to re-encode the file.
Non-DVD Tivos:
Best: 480x480, 5800 kbps
High: 480x480, 3500kbps
Medium: 352x480, 2600 kbps
Basic: 352x480, 1447 kbps
DVD Tivos:
720x480 for Best and High,
352x480 for Medium and Basic
480X480 is not a DVD format, but a SVCD format. 352X480 is a valid DVD format, but MyDVD does not support anything under 3Mbps. So regardless of which format you record, MyDVD will have to re-encode it.

There is a way to produce DVD's with no re-encoding from TiVo files. Check this ***TiVo Community Forum Post***. If you use TiVo medium quality files, you at least have an officially compliant DVD format, atlhough some players won't play them. There is also the issue of the audio. This method just passes the mpeg audio to the DVD instead of transcoding it to officially compliant AC3. Many players will play it OK, including my 6 year old JVC. You can try it for free. Look at the other posts in the same thread for guidance on the method. If you decide to go that way it will eventually cost you $50.
I have used MyDVD in EMC9 to produce good DVD's from TiVo Medium by selecting the "LP" quality in the "Project Settings" page. It takes about 30 minutes per hour of video and uses about 1.95 GB per hr of video. MyDVD has a more polished user interface than DVDStyler used in the other method and will support more menu features.
