Yesterday, I installed EMC Suite 8 and created a slideshow that successfully played on my set-top DVD player and TV. It's not a great slideshow and it is quite simple and I have some problems but it worked. The installation was trouble-free and it looks like, maybe, I can make the program suite work.
The whole point is that I did what various posts in the EMC8 forums have recommended and that was excellent information! These posts related to adequate system capability (especially the video card), preparation steps, precautions, production sequences, etc. I can only urge others to follow the various admonitions to avoid the variety of problems described in the forums. It appears that most, if not all, of the reported problems can be avoided.
Many thanks go to (in alphabetical order) beerman, gg russell, grandpa bruce, james hardin, larry, redwagon, and sknis. (Apologies to others I have omitted but you know who you are.) You all do a wonderful job. Your efforts make these forums outstanding.
