I have been using Roxio for years.all of a sudden when I click on copy disk it opens up and under my disk burner it reads contents blank recordable disc CD-RW,and the light is red to start copy I click on it and I get the message(Please insert blank disc into the recorder. This has been going on for a week.I have removed it 2 times and redoaded it back no change. In order to finish the project I was working on I downloaded a trial CD clone and it did the job fine.I use Sony, memorex, and Imitation they all did the same thing.I have tried CD-R CD-RW.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What part of Roxio are you trying to use?  Lack of information makes it impossible to help you.

Taking a shower and using a deoderant will not help any if you don't give some information. What are you trying to do, what program component are you using, what are your system specs, etc? "copy disc" really does not tell us anything. What kind of disc are you copying?

I have all ways used Easy creator 7 and Nero 7 to do my burning and copy any disc.I make slide shows for my kids and grand kids.I use Proshow gold to make them with. They are still photos with music some narration and the likes.I normally burn a CD-RW when I am making the show until I get it just the way I want it.When I am happy with it I save the CD-RW,Then make the other shows I may have 6 or 7 of them. That means I have them all on CD-RW I then open up Roxio or Nero and copy the amount of copies of each I need.Has all ways worked before They are saved in MPG & JPEG format. Now when I insert a disc in open up EMC7 select copy disc I insert my CD to be copied in the reader and the CD-R in the burner when EMC opens under the burner it says (blank cd writable or some to that effect)but when I click on Burn a window comes up telling me to insert a blank disc.both programs does this Roxio and Nero.I have removed them 3 times each and reinstalled does not help.I can use some of the other functions in the programs.I burned a ISO DVD with EMC7 no problem. I am not sure what else you need but please ask my system is listed below.

Steve, after the slide show is made, what application do you use in Easy creator 7 or Nero 7 to do the burning to your RW disc?

Do you have Easy creator 7 D2D or  Nero 7 InCD installed? They are drag and drop packet writing software.

Disc copier will not copy a D2D packet written disc.

Take a slide show from your hd and burn in creator classic, data project to a (non formated D2D) RW disc. Then see if you can copy it in disc copier.

Steve, since you make your shows in  ProShow Gold and now Roxio won't copy them in there disc copier, I'm at a loss! I have no idea what  ProShow Gold CD R exe files are. I have no idea if Roxio disc copier will copy them! You said they did before so something has changed, only you know those details, sorry.

Two points that have never been answered:

- give us your drive identifier - to get the ID string, right-click on the "my computer" icon, go to "properties" at the bottom of the menu, the hardware tab, then Device Manager, then click on the + alongside the CDROM icon.  (Copy it number for number, letter for letter (being carefuly to copy capital or lower case), space for space.)  Saying 'Sony' isn't enough - the burner in my Win98 SE says HP but it's a Phillips that's been rebranded by HP.
- what recent changes/updates/upgrades have been made to software or hardware. It is possible that something was added that overwrite some file needed by Roxio EMC.

There are no "one size fits all" answers to what goes on between hardware, software, and burning media.

Lynn
