Like the rest of many of you, I am quite frustrated by this process.

Unlike the rest of you, Media Import worked for me the first time without any problems.  I am using the Sony DVMC-DA2, which is recognized both by Windows and by Media Import.

The second time I went to use the program, a message popped-up within the program, indicating that I needed to download an MPEG-2 Codec and register my product.  It was as soon as I downloaded the Codec and registered my product that I began having the same error -- after 1 minute +/- X seconds, the software times out and kicks out of the capture process.

It would be nice if someone from Roxio would answer this question, as there are many of us who are a bit upset.

I have stumped RoxAnn (didn't take much) & I have completed a web ticket and hope to hear back from Roxio sometime soon.

I really think this is a software problem.

Did registration and MPEG 2 codec activation complete? You got a dialog box saying that both had completed successfully?

I have no way of trying to capture, myself, but I have seen enough instances of your problem to agree with you.  It is a bug in the software.  Hopefully, there will be a patch for it.

Same problem, same attemp to contact Support, same opinion of Roxann, I'm sure she is learning disabled. I have gotten no response from the help ticket I submitted. I talked to Customer Support about a refund but I was told that I had purchased the upgrade to EMC9 35 days ago there was no way in hell I was going to get a refund.

I don't know about the rest of you but I am starting to develop some really strong opinions about Roxio. :)
Does anyone know of a way to actually talk to a real person in Technical Support? Anybody have the phone number of the president of the company?

I checked out this device. First it isn't a camcorder, but a 'video converter'. From looking at the manual, there is no tape.  It converts analog to digital or digital to analog on-the-fly.  You should use the software that came with the device to capture.  Media Import was designed to capture from tape in a digital camcorder.

Sony DVMC-DA2 Converter Is Not Compatible with Video for Windows on Windows XP

This is from the Microsoft site.  They do have a hot fix.  Maybe this will help.
Doesn't sound like a Roxio issue to me.
Hope this helps.
