Over the past years, I have worked with dozens upon dozens of sound programs (editing and playback). I have used them professionally, and for entertainment. Several were good, but got phased out by the fancy feature players. The best to come out for playback WAS Winamp. It was fast to just quickly add a song to the queue and play it. It was quickly topped by the makers of Musicmatch (4 was ok, 5 was better, and then it got loaded with streaming junk and ads. Total turn off. To many forced features.) The earlier vesions had (in my opinion) the FASTEST music library access, playlist availability display. They did not need to update the whole display for every change and made excellent use of desktop screen. It showed playback area, optional visuals at SMALL sizes, the whole library in an easy scrolling fashion, and a current playlist to quickly reference. With those features it also let you quickly clear a temporary playlist or allowed you to save it. It didn't require you to create a whole new playlist that you would later have to delete just to listen to a few select songs.
There's a few reasons I switched to Roxio. Mainly ads and forced features brought me to this player and burner support and capability. There's quite a few things that greatly eat up time too. I switched because of the ease to edit it quickly instead of opening a seperate program and then have it automatically add to the library. Musicmatch would add automatically to the library, upon download or adding to the playlist. They gave you an option. It was perfect for short clips that had no intention of making the library.
Roxio has great appeal, and great annoyance. My wife and friends are always telling me that they liked musicmatch better for their ease of use. I liked that however I needed something to quickly edit the sound files too and update it with all the support to dynamically create track CD's. (Fade ins, outs, crossfades, etc) I also love that you can edit multiple track tags at one go. Saves me so much time.
Sound editor could use the following tools for more power:
Effects to fade in and out. (what about live tracks?)
The ability to copy and paste track cuts from one sound editor to the next.
The ability to save as MP3 with track tag editing BEFORE it hits the library.
Audio Central could use the following changes:
An optional visualization window that you could eliminate completely.
A temporary playlist that you can add and clear quickly within sight making better use of space.
The frustration of switching between playlist and library is just way too much.
The library should update without refreshing the whole lists
Audiocentral is a nice editor, but bad player.
I'm sure there could other changes, but that's just off the top of my head. Anybody else with suggestions?

Things To Upgrade With Sound Editor/audio Central

Well, since Audio Central was only part of v6, which has long ago ceased any development, I doubt you'll see any changes to it. There have been 3 versions (7, 7.5, 8) released since then that do not include it, altho they do all have a sound editor program, so maybe Roxio will see your post with your other suggestions.
