I'm using MyDVD 8 to take a series of .avi files and make a DVD (+R) that can be viewed on my TV via a standard Sony DVD player.

I'm just learning about pretty much everything that EMC8 does.  I'm an A/V noob.

I copied the 21 files, 3.6GB of avi files to a *data* DVD for backup.  I'm curious about why only 3 avi files at a time can be made into a DVD with MyDVD.  What's going on?  Where can I get info on all this so my next question will not be so stupid?

I do RTFM, when I know what manual to read.

Thanks for any help.

Avi files are compressed. When they are converted to a DVD compatible format they result in larger files.

Actually most avi files are compressed when converted to the DVD format. The avi files that become larger are usually the DivX format files. I think those are the type of files bostondriver copied to the data DVD.

I do notice that a DivX icon shows up in the taskbar.  Thanks.

Ok, so where can I "hit the books" on all this stuff?
